Thank you! I loved this book as he shares his concept of mortality, suffering through chemotherapy and radiation. Very inspiring.

It really is. The man spent his life improving his writing skills and we get to benefit from all of the hours he spent in that pursuit.

Respectfully, why the 1/2 star deduction?

This is a good question. I can't pinpoint any particular complaints that I have against this book. It's more of an issue of reserving the 5-star rating for a special group of books that are unforgettable and transcendent. So for example, it's almost impossible for me to read a book for the first time and give it 5 stars. I have to be with it for a while and the book has to stick with me. I did really enjoy this book and it's possible that down the road, it will continue to stand out to me and I'll revise my ranking upwards.

@@erikhillreviews If that is the case, then it is you who have changed. The excerpt you read was insightful; Hitchens always in touch with the sentimental quirks of society, but underpinning all his observation, was a man who was, first and foremost, self-aware.
