I can relate about the hitting direction early and sticking to it. The only "Flex" I did to get to Masters (wasn't interested in pursuing challenger) was with Blue buff into Lilia or Syndra depending on your lvl 8 roll down and lobby (most of the time Syndra was uncontested back then tho) but that was like the most I noticed you could flex in a game and get away with it.

not saying it would have won u the game, but u should start considering Azir when positioning front line..spread them out so that his dmg isnt that impactful, still keep them in pairs so that they dont get bursted down too hard from being solo targeted

No matter how good you are if you are contested by 2-3 people in the game, you will likely lose. Being flex is the way however you are left with other comps that would likely lose to the meta heroes, being lucky plays a huge part of salvaging games that is likely impossible.
