Morten Harket opened the Eurovision Song Contest of 1996 in Oslo, Norway on May 18th by performing his song "Heaven's Not For Saints".

How on Earth did Harket never get the fame of Elvis? He had/has the looks of a Greek God and the voice of an angel. This song, in particular, is evidence of that fact.

Remember this clearly. Terry Wogan said something like 'well, why not start a song cotest with a song', but them Morten starts singing. Still listen to this 20 years on. Brilliant song.

It's said he recorded the chorus prior and mimed to it as he wasn't feeling his best that night for the upper range but the rest was live. Amazing vocal as always.
