Bird photography is one of the very challenging genre of wildlife photography - especially when photographing birds of prey and other shy birds like crows and magpies.
It's early morning and I am on my way to my photo blind to see if I am lucky to get some nice photos of birds. I have to get there before the sun sets, so the alarm goes off at 5AM!
Join me behind the scenes this awesome day of wildlife photography.

I have now completely finished watching all the video installments on Morten's channel. And all the comments have it nailed down. This isn't about a guy blathering on about his gear and all of the photo aspects. This is about a story teller telling us about his love of nature, and how he himself goes about getting closer to what he loves. The images are the gravy. With some good b-roll, and including US -- the viewer in everything he's thinking, everything he's seeing, his Danish accent all come together to make it enjoyable to people without cameras or interests in photographing nature. It's like 15 minutes you can be somewhere else in your day, along with this friend of yours from Denmark. He's only just started this channel and I'm sure as the weeks progress, we are in for better everything. By far one of the best SUBs I've undertaken all year. I came here for nature photography -- what I got was a true adventure.

I am absolutely amazed and truly humbled after reading your fantastic compliment. This means so much more to me than you might know. It is so encouraging to hear how I reach you and it makes me so happy that you feel the adventure and my love of nature and most important, that you are enjoying to watch it. I really really hope you will like to follow me on this journey :) All the best wishes from Denmark:)

Absolutely spot on with your comments John. The images, whilst superb, are simply a by-product of the story as far as I am concerned. Love this style of vlogging. Wasn’t too interested in wildlife/nature photography before finding Morten’s channel but now I am totally engrossed. Currently working my way through his playlist and am enjoying every one.

In England, Scotland and Wales the crows are mainly black, but there are hooded in Ireland. I know when on the wing the crows are really aggressive towards buzzards and I’ve never seen them on the ground with one. The creature that turns into a butterfly is a caterpillar in English. Your passion and commitment for your subject is a wonderful thing to see, and I could never stop learning off your fieldcraft. Bird photography is the hardest photography , you need to wait too long , you might get picture and you might not , for me i spent 6 month watching common black bird until i could catch him flying upside down with amazing maneuvers also another photo i took while he accelerate with closed wings , one of most important reasons for this delay that common black bird Sense of hearing is very very strong and always when he hear my feet he start flying with warning sound to another birds

Wonderful photos, the magpie on the branch, crow yelling, blurred crow landing, buzzard posing at the end are my favorite! I like that foreground blur from the grass. Very nice video as always! My wife likes your videos too, in the last times we are watching your channel together. By the way, nice hide you got there, I need one too. I´ll probably buy one of those tent-like hides, for most wild animals you just need to be invisible. I´m not surprised that they have a big fear of humans, many thousands of years we hunted everything that moves...

Hi Morten. Many thanks for yet another absolutely wonderful and relaxing video. You really should be on the Television with your own show, promoting nature and photography. Your style as a commentator is every bit as good as our David Attenborough. Your videos are of unbelievably high quality as are your photographs depicting the best of nature. I am not ashamed to say that I get very excited when I see you have a new video uploaded.....I have to get a coffee and then watch your productions. :-) Beautiful photos you got there too. I have just sold my 800mm F5.6 lens and today will be receiving a brand new 500mm F4 prime lens. I love doing hide work too, and what I will miss with reach I shall make up for with a faster aperture and I.S., , a good trade-off I think. And if I can take photos a quarter as good as yours, I will be very happy indeed. :-) All the best, and keep the videos coming please! :-)

Morten, you are fantastic, full of simplicity, knowledge and optimism. It makes envy the places where you photograph and the way of life that you present us in the videos. Thanks for the great video. Inexplicably in Portugal the nature photographers do not publish videos, do not expose their work! But I would like to know a little more about what you have done to make nature photography your profession. How do you sell the photos? Do you have contracts with magazines, etc? Did you attend photography courses? ... What does it take to realize the dream of being professional? Hug.

Hi Paulo and thanks so much for your great message. It is so nice to such a compliment. I will make a video or maybe even a few videos about how I do all this - hopefully in the near future:) All the best.

I really admire your work. Be it a photography, videography and also video editing. You personified the perfection in your video. I really loved the part where you put the totally suitable music while showing the captured pictures. Keep up the good work and best of luck.

Hello. I have been filming your videos for some time. I wish I could be able to do what you do. Just because it's just a hobby. I have a question [for you and for those who have used this lens]. What do you think about nikon 80-400mm f / 4.5-5.6D VR [first version]?

Another great video Morten.. love your passion & the fact you didn't want to get closer for a better shot or angle so as not to disturb them. Thanks great video 🙏🙏

Dear mr. Hilmer, thank you for sharing your fantastic videos with us. I enjoy all of the aspects: wildlife, being in all of these amazing places, the info on photography, but above all, your enthusiasm. Can you please tell me about the reason why, when you are photographing from a blind, you seam to ristrict yourself to having only 1 opening in the blind,: the one you are using to make photos through? I would think it limits ones chances of noticing animals around....surtainly stealth comes first, but blocking out 270degrees of your surroundings.... It would make me nervous about "missing" opertunities..... Best regards, good luck and "tak"! Johan.

I simply have to ask how did you get this as a job and how well does it pay? And how does it work? I want to become a photographer with a burning passion and simply don’t know how to start making such an awesome living like you do
