This is the behind the camera version of Bird Photography in the Forest:
••• Watch the original video: • BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY in th... •••
After the photo trip to the forest where I was photographing the woodpecker I am making a recap where I am talking about the day and my experiences. I love bird photography and this is actually one of my first time photographing birds for quite a while.
In this behind the scenes version I am talking a little about the pros and cons of using the tripod, a little about the composition, the 3d camouflage clothes and then in the end of the video I am answering some questions from the previous video. I really hope you will get something out of this and I am very eager to get some feedback.

I loved that quote as well. It encapsulates how we should treat nature, furthermore how as more and more habitats are compromised that we will step in as guests and be very lucky if we can see the inhabitants.

Your attitude about being in nature is similar to mine. The bird or animal may know that you are there but be respectful, keep movements to a minimum, don’t get too close, capture your images and leave quietly. If I spend some time with a bird or animal, hopefully capturing a few good images, I always whisper a short “thank-you” out loud to them....really, I thank them. For their time and letting me share a little bit of their life, I am grateful.

Dreamy and blurry, this is why I love your photos so much. Without revealing everything in a "clean sharp focus image", you live to the viewer the possibility to become part of the process of interpretation and to complete with his own ideas the picture you made, rather than just observing it. This is what the great artists do. But even more importantly, you are a great human being. Thank you Morten, you are the best and the finest.

It’s so great that you break rules. I love your style. It’s natural. I’m so sick of photos of a bird on a stick with blurry backgrounds. I thin photographs in persuading perfect birds photos completely forgot about natural environment of birds or wild animals. I really like to listen to your stories. Glad you liked Poland. I’m from Poland 🇵🇱. If you would like to visit again let me know. I have a simple house in Mazury lake country. Full of wild life close to Bialowierza where you have been. All the best, Krzysztof.

Hello Morten! It so good to have you back :) I just watched both of your new videos, and again as always, they are so inspiring, and awesome - thank you! I like your new format of making a “original” video and then a btc, where you explain more with the time it needs. I loved to hear your insight about the composition/framing and the use of the tripod. I am currently exploring the Albanian alps with my wife and my 1 year old son, and I just wanted to let you know that you have inspired me in the past so much, that last night I got up at 4 in the morning, and sneaked around the forest - not expecting anything (but hoping for a bear). In the end I settled for pictures from snails, butterflies and flowers, but just LOVED being out there, came back with a huge smile on my face. So thank you for making those videos!

I photograph a pack of coyotes at a local park in Arizona. It’s very busy there because people use the park all day to walk, run, ride horses, skateboard etc. If I get there early in the morning before light and wait for the pack to wake up I can get a few hours before everyone shows up. Even though I’m a good distance away the coyotes know I‘m there for sure so I’ve thought about the 3D camo but I would feel a little weird....it just seems easier on the coyotes if I could make myself a little more invisible. Love your content!

This is awesome - I love this idea to also have a behind the scenes explanation afterwards! We all want to know how it's done and it's so hard to explain those kind of things at the same time as photographing 😊 I totally agree with the silent shutter thing - it's certainly better but somehow it takes the 'feeling' of taking a photograph away so I only use it when I think I need to! Re. the Nikon Z autofocus tracking - the firmware update they released while you were away has cartainly improved it, so they're certainly working on it...

I haven't picked up a camera in 10 years. I felt inspired by your work and ENERGY around wildlife. I bought a D5600 2 weeks ago, travelled to a local National Nature Reserve and spent HOURS there. I'd like to get out every day after work and learn more. Im currently only using a 70-300mm from Tamron until im able to get around to purchasing a 600mm lens. Other than that my next purchase will be a thermos and some fantastic coffee :). I hope you keep making these videos when you have the time; to help & inspire others like you have done for me. Kind Regards Morten! James (London, England)

Your lens is bigger than my lens :D But the challenges are the same and I'm so glad to see you show the challenges of photography, it is good to know we all face them and we shouldn't feel bad when we struggle, rather focus on the joy of being in nature. Plus, your photos always tell a story, and that is the most important thing to accomplish and you always seem to manage that. I had a good laugh when you said, "Oh look at that, now it's not bird photography - it's just one of my chickens!" Haha! I just love how genuine and down to earth you are, Morten, it is what makes your channel such a pleasure to watch.

I just love to watch your videos, they are really nicely done, very informative and relaxing at the same time. You seem to be such a nice guy. I share the same attitude to the nature and animals of minimal or no impact. Keep the great work 👍

Great insight, thank you for sharing Morten. I've spent the last few weeks roaming the local forest, introducing wildlife in to my landscape's has given me a different perspective on how I look at my surroundings, neck hurts from time to time 😊.... I can spend hours upon hours in a static location and even if I don't come away with a photo then that's fine.
