Yeh we have a ring camera and me, my girlfriend and our son can all connect to it and see who's at the door whether we're at home or out. Also you can talk through the camera to whoever is at the door so all he had to do was say hey who are you, what do you want etc.

I am thinking that the homeless woman heard him open his window and that's why she grabbed the knife thinking she was going to be attacked by the home owner so she wanted to defend herself as if she had that right when she broke into their house but that would have been a legit reason for her to be at his door with a knife because I don't think she knew he was there before it seems like she was just there for food and wasn't really there to hurt anyone or maybe she was more sinister and was there to take over someone's house by hurting them she could have been on drugs too who knows
