On the technical issues for PC, a patch has been put out which seems to have resolved most people's performance problems. Technically it went live last night but I wanted to wait a bit and make sure it was actually fixing it for most people before pinning this. Also seems to have mostly resolved the steam deck issues at the same time.

@@billcrabtree8700 Listen, I am 100% with you in how its frustrating to see game prices go from 60$ to 70$, but at the end of the day, games have been 60$ for a looonnnggg time. When I started playing games in 2007, I remember them being 60$ back then too. In today's money, 60$ in 2007 would be 86.24$. Even with games at 70 right now, considering inflation, games are still cheaper than they were years ago...additionally, with the increase cost to develop games, keeping games at the same price especially with all the inflation is really hurting game developers and their chances to make more/better games if it's harder to make a profit. So, as much as I obviously don't want to pay any more money than I have to, games are going to adopt this 70$ price tag more and more until it's the standard. It's just the way it is, it's been due to happen for a long time honestly. I am saying all of this because you really shouldn't let this increase sway you from playing games you like. It looks like it is going to be the standard from here on. And also...it is really just 10$. If you're dropping 60$ already, 10 more isn't gonna break the bank, it's just breaking your pride knowing you're paying more for something you used to pay less for, which everyone experiences. But times are changing unfortunately, and it will become the norm.

I don't see how they didn't include puzzles and exploration? It's crazy to me how they didn't work on this. But do something else, anything, besides just the bashing everyones skull in with a bat.
@-Monad-2 жыл бұрын
Personally, I'm thrilled that puzzles and exploration aren't included. My time is limited these days and I want to purely focus on combat and story progression. Puzzles and exploration tend to be rote, uninteresting, and break up the flow of a game. They're often used as a crutch to pad out a short play time.
@danielgeronimo55382 жыл бұрын
@@-Monad- I've never seen someone say something as self-contradictory than in these four sentences. You want story progression when it's technically what pads out playtime alongside forced combat. And puzzles is what actually allows you to speedrun an entire game without being hounded with scripted fights and encounters. This is where survival horror even started with.
@77jamess2 жыл бұрын
Resident evil village doesn’t really have any puzzles, yet that game was so widely loved. Sure it has puzzles in the sense that you have to move one object to another place, and then pull a lever, but that’s it? This game is far more interesting to me than RE8 ever was.

A warning to anyone who pre-loaded the game, there is a day one patch and it needs to load all 68gb of data again, be prepared for a wait to actually play it. Edit: I ended up refunding, there is some huge issues with CPU optimization that is causing the stutters. My Afterburner was reporting average 50% CPU usage at 4K then sudden spikes out of no where to 100% and that is when the game stuttered and even hard crashed in the opening 10 minutes. I suspect this is related to the inclusion of Denuvo because these were not high action scenes when the CPU usage was spiking so there was no reason for it to be drawing that much power, especially not at 4K with a 3080. Texture streaming seemed off as well, I could see detail pop-in where textures were trying to load as I was moving around. Really poor optimisation that is reminiscent of CP2077 at launch.

@@-Monad-i7 10700K, liquid cooled, which yes it is getting a little dated now by the highest end standards but it has still run every other major AAA title this year at 60fps in 4K without any issues. The CPU usage was sitting at a flat 50% for the most of the time but then just random spikes straight to 100% out of no where. If there was a bottleneck, it would be more evident and since the recommended specs are quite a bit lower than a 10700, this shouldn't be causing an issue. The game should have launched with DLSS support if it was going to be this demanding, that would have solved some of the problems for those of us who play at 4K. The game may have been a little short and the final boss is difficult on hard which is to be expected, I didn't get bored of the enemies. Cool! I'm sure by the time I'll get around to play this game, my PC will be up to par with the (hopeful) subsequent optimization. That is by the end of next year, or possibly the beginning of 2024. (Still have to play the original Dead Space series, btw: I've only seen a playthrough of the 1st game, back then, and that's it) Thanks for your videos!

Nice job sir. This is the most hyped I've been for a game in years. Hope it runs well on my system.

I played this game after the patch and wow it’s a masterpiece. This is what next gen gaming is all about. This game brought back feelings I got from gaming in my childhood. Towards the middle to end I just got sucked into some of these encounters and fights. It’s so realistic. I felt like I was there with him. Great game best game of year prolly.

It's always nice to wake up with one of your videos! I really love your completionist approach to reviewing games, and you've helped me make several buying decisions in the past. Some possibly helpful feedback: I don't know if you've had this feedback before, but to future-proof your videos a bit, you might want to consider mentioning which model/year SteamDeck you're using. It's such a successful-seeming gaming device, that I wouldn't be surprised if we see a hardware refresh/update in the coming years, and five years down the line it might be helpful to know which version of it you were testing a game on.

Thanks for the review man, I feel as if the game had issues but a lot of people hyped it up to the point where they just like to pile on it just to hate it, there are complaints to be had, but it's a solid game for sure.

I’m enjoying it on ps5. Combat can be a bit frustrating but it adds to the scary nature of the game. You feel vulnerable and any mistake can lead to death. I originally started to feel like I wasted my money but as I got better it became more enjoyable.

I'm not into playing survival horror games, but I like watching them on youtube. Hopefully one of my go-tos will play this one on their channel. :D

This is the only positive review I've seen of this game. I'm still not going to buy it because I'm not a fan of survival horror games, but nice to see it getting recommended by someone.

Great review. Sounds like you actually invested your time into it rather than rushed through it like ign and gamespot.

At this point, Dead Space might beat it slightly on the basis of being the same old but updated after 10 years of absence. My enthusiasm for Callisto waned when I heard it was connected to PUBG.
