Joey, to answer your question about the gloss of each card, try to open Japanese print and American print side by side. You will see the difference between the gloss specially if you compare the gloss of foil lands... Hope this will answer your question.

I wish there was an easy way to identify Japanese print runs. Also, hoping you can find Japanese Collector prints. So far only Draft Boosters seem to have the gloss/etching borders on alt arts and lands.

I'm wondering if the spot printing on the collector versions of the showcase cards was a printing mistake? Don't know why they would randomly make it matte. Saw other openings where it's been really badly offset in collector boxes too. No idea why the QC seems so bad in this set.

For what i see there's a difference between the japanese pack ( those with the nice gloss) and the American packs. U can see the difference on the mana image in the bottom os the black and white mana cards. The made in USA are much less gloss and no gloss on the mana symbol. But the foil is more pronounced on the usa on. I in my opinion prefer the made in Japan packs for the nice gloss.

i had some issues with the gloss in my sealed event over the weekend.. it was 50/50 on whether the pack had it or not. also the card looked like they were poorly cut. no issues with the wrenn i pulled though lol

you were looking for wrenn? me too...in the entire prerelease weekend, with over 60 pre-kits opened thru the store, and over 16 set boxes opened in the store, there was a SINGLE, foil Wrenn...no other wrenns, :the best pull I saw over the weekend, was a prerelease kit with 2 foil full-art arlinns, and the promo being unnatural growth. had some other good rares in it, and i believe 1 other mythic.

I've bought four boxes so far, two set and two draft, pulled a total of six mythics, and one of the draft box had no mythics and no rares, the other draft box had one mythic... The quality control for Midnight hunt is the worst I have ever seen in over fifteen years of collecting/playing CCG's. No one I know or I have pulled a Wrenn and Seven, I've had 62 packs so far with no rare and no mythics- they come with uncommon in the rare and mythic slots- submitted ticket/issuse to WOTC so far no response...

So far the only IMH packs I've opened have been my prerelease kit ones. I pulled a showcase Gisa, a showcase Saryth, a regular The Meathook Massacre, a regular Unnatural Growth, and a regular Champion of the Perished out of that, and I'm mighty pleased with those pulls...especially the Meathook. Grats on pulling that super sweet extended Wrenn and Seven!

The glossiness is different on Japanese vs USA based printings. Boxes in English were printed in both countries, and gave a different result. USA borders on the b&W cards are matte, and Japanese are glossy. The foils even have differences. USA foils don't foil the land symbol and Japanese ones do.

I did catch that some gloss finishes on showcase cards are different between packs as well, making me think some foils were etched foils. But nah, Wizard's official article on what we get in different types of packs didn't list etched foils in any of the packs. But I do know there is definitely some distinction between some showcase cards in foil/non-foil. Who knows, could be a production issue! 🤔

The gloss / foiling is different on the American and Japanese printings. Japanese have the super high gloss pinstripes. American is still glossy but noticeably less so than the Japanese print. And basic lands foiling is completely different between American and Japanese print.

My sister’s first tattoo was a lotus flower (she knows nothing about MTG). I showed her a picture of a Black Lotus, her response was “great now everyone is going to think I’m a nerd”. Her tattoo looks more like the actual flower than the card though. Also opening all the packs made it seem like you rushed through the cards, but I also like shorter videos so that’s not necessarily a bad thing.
