They arent rubbing it, its to represent the holy spirit descending. The act of putting it on is like putting on the whole armour of God. As the life of a bishop is hard, they live with no posessions and no salary. The "armour of God" is blessed that they may be kept as pure as possible

The laying of hands is biblical. Everything else is prayers. These prayers may not be in the BIBLE but they are to bless the bishop. Alot of it is prayong for the holy spirit to descend upon the bishop, as the life of a bishop is a very ascetic life. (Yes its a war, on satan :) )

Biblical, u say about bible who gave you Bible to even utter that word?? Did jesus say in bible I came and gave you the "bible"?? Jesus said when u pray you should chant "our father who art in heaven" do u chant the prayers?? Jesus Christ when he established the holy qurbana said "this is my body " do u obey it? Do u obey anything what jesus said?? U people are just jesus fan clubs not worthy to be called church. Go and repent then take the holy baptism from a "priest" whom Jesus gave authority to do all things. Jesus didn't, the "ride on the chair" is to honor the new bishop. Rasing them up is supposed to represent how they have succeeded an apostolic throne(throne of St.James, St.Peter,ect). Also yeah, we hope not to drop our bishops. Why make fun of us, christ taught not to judge others.
