This song was written especially for the festival of the youth in Moscow in 1957! Thousands of people arrived from around the world from different countries and they gathered together, greeted each other and organized concerts and conferences, marches and parades! It was an incredible summer with this theme song of the festival! The motto was FRIENDSHIP, PIECE AND UNITY!

Shame it was a despotic dictatorship with closed borders for its own students and youth. But the festival was certainly a valuable glimpse of how things could have been.

what is good about this is that it allows us, non-Russian speakers to appreciate the beauty of this song. Ive heard this song for decades but now I appreciate the beauty of this song.

HELMUT, GOD GAVE YOU A BEAUTIFUL VOICE TO SHARE WITH THE WORLD. SOMEONE IS SOME COUNTRY GAVE YOU CANCER. BECAUSE YOU SANG THE RUSSIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM AS YOU HAVE SUNG ANTHEMS IN OTHER COUNTRIES LIVING IN AMERICA, I WONDER WHO WITHIN THE ALLIES OF THE WEST DID THIS TO YOU OVER A RUSSIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM. MY MOTHER HAD IT WITH TREATMENT AND I KNOW THIS WAS NO ACCIDENT. DURING THE EARLY 80'S I WORKED AT SPERRY UNIVAC WITH SUBMARINES AND THE NUCLEAR ENGINEERS WERE TOLD BY THE BIG BOSS "THE RUSSIANS ARE NEXT DOOR" AT THE PLACE OUR ENGINEERS WOULD HAVE A DRINK. THE BOSS JUST SAID "GUYS DON'T TALK SHOP" WHILE NEXT DOOR. MY COUNTRY DID NOT LOOK AFTER THE WOMEN AT SPERRY AND TO CUT A LONG STORY SHORT, I ENDED UP IN MY OLD NEIGHBORHOOD, GREEN RUN WITH A MAN I THOUGHT AMERICAN...BUT WORRIED ABOUT MY DISABLED SON WHERE HE ONCE LIVED AND PLAYED AS A LITTLE BOY. NOT KNOWING THE MAN WAS RUSSIAN AT THE TIME, I FELT TRAPPED BECAUSE OF MY LEGALLY SEPARATED HUSBAND'S PREVIOUS ISSUES. IN THE END, I WAS BLESSED WITH TWO, TWIN RUSSIAN SONS. THEY NEEDED TO BE IN THEIR MOTHERLAND RUSSIA AND PEOPLE MADE ARRANGEMENTS TO SEND THEM TO RUSSIA. HELMUT, I MAY NOT LIVE MUCH LONGER AND MANY THINGS HAVE TAKEN THEIR TOLL ON MY BODY. I THINK OF YOU AND AM VERY HAPPY FOR YOUR NEW WEDDING VIDEOS I SAW. YOU ARE BOTH LOVELY. I HAD DECIDED LONG AGO NEVER TO REMARRY, BUT I HAD A TRADITIONAL CHRISTIAN GRANDMOTHER WHO WAS CONCERNED ABOUT ME BEING PREGNANT BECAUSE OF WHERE I WORKED, MY COUNTRY FAILED ME AND SHE HELPED ME IN MANY WAYS. I MARRIED A MAN WHO WAS GONE ALL OF THE TIME, LIVED AT A FIRESTATION IN WILLIAMSBURG AREA AND DRANK. THAT MEANT ALL OF MY TIME AFTER LEAVING SPERRY WAS FREE AND NO TIME FOR HIM. THANKFULLY, LARGE SWEATERS AND COATS COVERED THE PROBLEM ON THE WAY TO GRANDMAS LIVING VERY VERY LOW KEY OFF THE RADAR SCREEN. KNOWING I HAVE PARKINSON'S DISEASE NOW AND A DISABLED SON IN AMERICA WITH EYESIGHT PROBLEMS...WHICH IS WHY I TYPE LARGE LETTERS. I HAVE CONTINUED TO LIVE LOW KEY, BUT BAD PEOPLE IN THE GOV'T FOUND ME IN PENSACOLA FLORIDA AND THINKING IT WAS ABOUT MY GRANDFATHER'S OIL/GAS INHERITANCE TO ME KEPT ME HOMEBOUND. I DID MY BEST NEVER TO SAY A WORD ABOUT MY CHILDREN TO PROTECT THEM UNTIL THE PAIN INFLICTED BECAME WORSE. NOW MY HUSBAND, ITALIAN WHO HAS TRIED TO PROTECT IS SICK ALSO. HE WAS A CHAMPIONSHIP BALLROOM DANCER IN NEW YORK AS A CAREER WINNING OVER 300 TROPHIES IN A CAREER AND THE 1982 UNITED STATES BALLROOM CHAMPIONSHIP FOR DANCING PASO DOBLE HE HAS LOST 30 PERCENT OF HIS LUNG CAPACITY AS A FORMER ATHLETE, NEVER SMOKED BEWARE OF EVENTS THE CIA CAN DO WORSE TO PEOPLE IN OCEAN'S 13 MOVIIE MAKING PEOPLE SICK. I WISH YOU HAD STAYED IN RUSSIA AND LIVED IN PEACE WITH FAMILY SOMEHOW. IT IS THE LARGEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. I PRAY FOR YOU ALWAYS AND WANT YOU WELL. PLEASE SING EVEN IF IT MEANS LIVING IN A MORE SECURE PLACE. BE AT PEACE, BUT ALWAYS AWARE OF HOW BAD THE WORLD HAS BECOME TO CARE FOR YOUR OWN. MY NAME WAS PATRICIA ANN (DYESS) MOSLEY MAIDEN/ MARRIED TO DAVID T REYNOLDS AT 18 A VIETNAM MARINE AND POLYGRAPH EXAMINER. NOW MARRIED TO FRANK DILEONARDO FROM NEW YORK THE AMAZING LATIN BALLROOM DANCER WHO IS TRAPPED WITH ME IN PENSACOLA, FLORIDA OVER MY GAS/OIL INHERITANCE AND NOW OVER SPERRY ABOUT SUBMARINES. NEVER DID I THINK I WOULD LIVE IN A GITMO ON GUERLAIN WAY IN PENSACOLA FLORIDA.. BE AT PEACE AND TAKE VERY GOOD CARE. LOVE, PATRICIA

Moscow Night Even whispers aren't heard in the garden, Everything has died down till morning. If you only knew how dear to me Are these Moscow nights. The river moves, unmoving, All in silver moonlight. A song is heard, yet unheard, In these silent nights. Why do you, dear, look askance, With your head lowered so? It is hard to express, and hard to hold back, Everything that my heart holds. But the dawn's becoming ever brighter. So please, just be good. Don't you, too, forget These summer, Moscow nights.

English Lyrics Stillness in the grove Not a rustling sound Softly shines the moon clear and bright Dear, if you could know How I treasure so This most beautiful Moscow Night Lazily the brook like a silvery stream Ripples in the light of the moon And a song afar fades as in a dream In this night that will end too soon Yes a song afar fades as in a dream In this night that will end too soon Dearest, why so sad, why the downcast eyes And your lovely head bent so low Oh, I mustn’t speak, though I’d love to say That you’ve stolen my heart away Promise me my love, as the dawn appears And the darkness turns into light That you’ll cherish dear, through the passing years This most beautiful Moscow Night Say you’ll cherish dear through the passing years This most beautiful Moscow Night Original post by Rich, UK
