BS"D Rabbi Dr Brackman: Could the talking animal be an _indicator_ that the episode is a parable? I can't recall any other examples of talking animals besides the נחש. Notably, Adam _is_ identified not only by name, but also with genealogy and cryptic geography (the rivers). One might make a critical distinction between the two accounts of בריאת אדם, but idk if the Rambam uses this reasoning. Thank you for the terrific שיעורים. I still stubbornly insist that the Rabbi Dr. read (or speak with) Dr. Gerald Schroeder. A Maimonidean search for truth(s) in 5784 is incomplete without Schroeder's work.
