Catching up on these older videos, I like them. Everything seems “just right”: the length, the soundtrack, the text commentary (including the font), and the action, good, bad, often in between. But most of all the authenticity. Thanks.

Awesome fish. My biggest was 35 inch so I can bet that one was fun. Love your videos they make we want to drive up and fish the lagoon. I fish the Indian river here around vero and Stuart every weekend. Think I might head up and give it a try. Plus you fish s gheenoe I picked my first one up 2 months ago and love it. Keep them coming.

Good for you on the Gheenoe Nick! They are great boats and the community of owners is even better. There is a group on Facebook called Gheenoeholics. I highly recommend you check it out, or go to customgheenoe.com and join the forum. We have owner gatherings all the time. What hull did you get?

+HaMm3r I got a custom 13 with Yamaha 8hp. Not a low tide yet but it's a start. I meet up with some guys from the treasure coast gheenoers and did a river run. Good times

that's the kind of red what I'm looking for man

Wow, what a monster Red! Congrats. Any idea what the weight was? I wish I could've made it out to the lagoon last weekend.
@JeffHammerFishing8 жыл бұрын
Thanks TJ! I'm estimating 35lbs, because it had such a huge girth on it. I've caught longer reds before, with my biggest right at 50", but even that one wasn't as fat. This thing was just a muscular beast.

just curious as to how much this awesome gheenoe costed you! awesome video as always and nice red! tight lines

That's a complicated answer, Wesley. I bought the hull and trailer new, direct from Custom Gheenoe. It was pretty bare-bones, with only the side console and the bow/stern decks and hatches. Everything else I purchased elsewhere, or traded for, or won, or built. All the rigging, wiring and installation I did myself. It's tough to put a number on it, but if I had actually bought everything retail I'm sure it would be well over $10K. However, keep in mind that I'm including everything, from dual Odyssey batteries, to GPS, to Minnkota Talon, to combo Jackplate/Trim unit, to the fairly rare Mercury Sea Pro outboard and custom Powertech stainless prop I'm running. About the only accessory I don't have it hydraulic trim tabs, so mine isn't your typical Gheenoe. That said, a basic LT25 hull runs about $2600 new I believe.

Wow! You really put a lot into it, had no clue it was from a bare-bones gheenoe.

I really enjoy watching your videos because you and your buddy have a similar fishing style to me and my husband. I hope you don't mind me asking questions about the area, but we have a heavier 17ft flats boat with a 90 4 stroke. Do you think the flats around eddy creek would be accessible with that? We need about 14 in.
@JeffHammerFishing8 жыл бұрын
Charlotte, I don't mind at all, thank you. I would say yes, you could get your boat onto some of the flats down there. However, many you probably couldn't. In many places the grass extends far from shore and gets deeper the farther toward the center of the lagoon. You can probably fish those outer flats and the edges no problem. Be careful though, there are shallow bars and shoals all over and with the dirty, algae laden water right now. You'll be up on them and stuck before you even know it. I also wouldn't recommend Eddy Creek for your boat. It's not really much of a ramp. It's more a beach launch than anything else. Use Bairs Cove or Biolab when it reopens. They'll much more suited to your needs. Beacon 42 can also take bigger skiffs, but it's kind of crappy honestly and there's a big submerged hole at the end of the concrete that can make launching or loading loads of "fun". Good luck to you and share how you do please.

Thanks so much for the info! Just looking into trying a different area. We've been doing alot of kayak fishing out of WSEG most of the summer. Finally landed my first tarpon on Sunday!(little guy😉)
@JeffHammerFishing8 жыл бұрын
Loads of fun those little tarpon! Since you've fished the lagoon a fair amount, you probably realize that it is tidal, although you don't see the dramatic daily changes of other areas. So, if you pick your days when the tides are on the higher side, you could likely get into a lot more water with your big boat. Right not it's been pretty low for a couple weeks.

Man, nice haul .. you fellas did great! I've been catching a lot of trout in the lagoon but haven't had much luck with reds. What lures are you using?
@JeffHammerFishing8 жыл бұрын
Thanks Kurt! I have to admit, the last couple trips have been a challenge for me too. But, it's hard to beat zman lures. They're some of my favorites.
