It may also be because when it happens, they seem to be scared, confused, and hopeless as they scamper to survive. But, as we all ready know, they cannot escape their death. Its very feeble yet useless endeavor to survive give you pleasure because the feeling is basically the same one you feel when killing it. However, the satisfaction may be greater considering the fact that the fly actually knows it’s going to die.

I have a pretty sizable garden in my backyard. I water it twice a day. Takes about an hour total. My legs and arms are bombarded by skeeters. This makes me feel better. Also I've seen this happen once before, in person. My cousin let a mosquito drink his blood until it popped. Like an actual pop. Not like a slow burst shown here.

Stop watering it twice a day. Once every two days and no later than 9am. The plants probably look like they need watering because the roots are being drowned and are oxygen deprived. Lower water bills, better plants and dehydrated mosquitoes that will die.
