With the building of the Ontario line. This whole area is going to change dramatically. It's already started. I've walked throught this area many times, and yes it's not great right now but I've never felt nervous or afraid while there.

This area is different, i hear what your saying but this isnt like every other neighborhood, moss park is like a designated neighborhood like hamsterdam or something looks at all the outreaches and low income housing they have packed in the one neighborhood

Sadly, I have found far more people who neither live nor know anyone who does live in the area to be the ones with the greatest "knowledge" of it, inevitably perpetuating the reputation of being dangerous and/or "sketchy." That said, there is undoubtedly a greater number of people suffering from homelessness and/or mental illness congregating but that is in part a result of greater access to social resources, such as food, housing, and medical care, within a smaller area. But, the same social issues on display at Sherbourne and Dundas are prevalent throughout every city nationwide. I live in Cabbagetown and walk through the area on an almost daily basis, all times of day and night. Not once have I ever felt unsafe or at all anxious of the area or those in it. But I also greet those I encounter as I would anyone else no matter the location. No one chooses to be an addict. No one wants to be homeless. But, it is the disregard such individuals experience from much of society that exacerbates the shame they already feel that has the potential to be a motivator of concerns that might not otherwise occur. No one appreciates being mistreated and some semblewnce of compassion doesn't require a great deal of energy but could be what some might require at just the right time. I live The Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you," which simply means, treat others as you'd like to be treated. Walking through the area as often as I do I have become acquainted with some individuals and having learned what led some to where they are only highlights how easy it is to end up being one of those people carrying their entire life in a bag around the area of Sherbourne and Dundas.
