Moss Side & Hulme demolitions

This presentation & discussion took place on at a Royal Exchange Elders Zoom meeting on 31-10-21. We looked at the needless destruction of Alexandra Road - a wonderful and much missed shopping centre. Also the first and second demolitions of Hulme, the 1981 riots and the significance of the Reno Night club in Moss Side

What has happened with the Windrush Centre meant for the community in Moss Side and Hulme? Who are you all where is the representation of the Black people in the area??? Why is the woman sniggering!!! When the Caribbean and African population came to the UK you all should have treated them respectfully as they ALL came to work.. You segregated and ostracised them from various venues including employment and housing Shocking!! Didn't't the people look grey and dowdy depressing to look at.. Although I do appreciate the history and pictures. I was born in 1957 in Paddington London my parents both from Barbados moved from London to Manchester in 1960 and we lived in a room in Moss-Side.
