That red-bellied black snake (or Pseudechis porphyriacus) was so pretty! I’m glad they were cautious though since red-bellied black snakes have a significantly toxic venom. I believe there’s only been one recorded death but still, they can cause severe tissue damage. They do usually live by rivers hiding under rocks or burrowing so finding one at a beach shouldn’t be too weird. One problem though, it is never a good idea to corner a snake (no matter the species) or have a lot of people around. Red-bellied black snakes try to avoid human contact, which can cause them to stress when people gather near them. Plus they’re territorial. And they probably will strike if stressed or feeling threatened.

As an aussie i dont think people understand how scary it is to loose a kid at the beach, I’m not a mum but I’m the oldest of four. Me and my brother (the second oldest) surf and one time i got out and couldnt find him and a rip took us out far left. I was so scared and had no idea where we was. He was waiting at a flag but shit i thought i was going to have a heart attack

Not an aussie, but also the oldest of two by nearly a decade in a country with plenty of beaches with tricky seas: I understand you completely. My brother was a daredevil as a little kid, too, which didn't help matters. He decided to go rock climbing, without any warning, on the exposed rocks during low tide, and the inner conflict between yelling at him for being a little jerk and not being able to yell at him because I could startle him and make him fall... I had grey and white hairs by the time I was 15 and I see they were all his fault

Your feisty heart but soft mindset was what defined you,❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥🤍🖤 I loved how you would and I would eat fish and chips and watch the sunset 🌅. Barramundi was your favourite and cod was mine. You lived very dangerously, always near the south. I even remember when you got your first haircut, it was very emotional (but funny when you were 2yo and had a rat tail!). Your blue eyes were like looking into a majestic ocean. You and me would laugh over all our inside jokes and we were inseparable😢. May your life be remembered and also our friendship😫😭.
