This baby elephant was found wandering alone and lost from its herd. Wildlife officers immediately brought this baby to one of their bases as a way to keep it safe. not old enough (At the time of vid) to be in a pond, they often get stuck and odds of injury are incredibly high! He just needs a stack of hay to lay on, a blankie around his torso, and a caretaker. Like human babies when elephants are born, they need a ton of sleep and they suck on their mother’s teat. In orphanage nurseries, they take to sucking on the fingers/hands off their caretakers/ keepers. You can see it in the way he’s stumbling and how seems to be chasing the hand of whoever is on the other side of that grill.

@@lindacusano9099 This is a temporary place while they search for its herd. Failing that, it will be sent to the Elephant Orphanage where it can be properly taken care of. If you’re criticizing these people who’re trying to take care of it in the interim and say that they should assign manpower or resources which they don’t have, I welcome you to fund them to bring your vision to reality.

@Alex Thomson jayne is correct. They shouldn't be alone. And his enclosure should be more interesting than a dirt floor and 2 tree trunks. He needs grass or hay. Maybe a ball to play with.

@Alex Thomson Why is there such a negative reaction towards any comment , suggestion on improving a Baby's lot. How are they wrong in saying (1) this baby is lonely, needs some Loving, company (2) some thing to with. Why would we compare this with a circus animal, or other gruesome tortured animals lot? Do we do that about our own babies, just give them food, and basic materials so they would breath, and say be happy you are not on the streets? And all that folks are saying is some one to treat this Baby Elle as a baby. Expressing Affection and Love do not cost money, but is as essential for a baby as food

If they can find the herd, it’ll be reunited with its family. If not, it’ll be taken to the Elephant Orphanage. When its older, and if suitable for rehabilitation, it might be sent to the Elephant Transit Home, to be prepared to be released back into the wild.

Joni Rana He’s not very “special” not saying that he’s not worth anything, he’s just a common asian elephant. His parents were either killed or he got lost. If you can see from the video, they had to take him because he could’ve gotten killed by predators in the forest and he still relies on his mother’s milk. If they did nothing about it he would have starved or gotten killed.

There are sanctuaries that assign a keeper to each baby they even sleep next to them. They say its vital to there survival. Any comment on that. I mean it's great you feed him but dosent it require more. ?

Yes this poor baby needs to be with someone 27/7. He is obviously stressed and he needs someone to reassure him. He is to tiny to be left alone all by himself. Stress could kill the poor thing. He may give up trying to survive just from the trama of being abandoned. I feel so bad for him. It seems down right cruel. It's hard to watch. Yes he's adorable but he needs much more.

The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya never leave their orphans alone. They have all the other rescued calves to interact with, and dedicated keepers that are with them all the time. They sleep on a bunk bed in the elephant stables, and get up during the night to feed them. This is why they have been so successful, and have just celebrated their 31st wild born calf. 💕🐘💕🐘💕

Yes! The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya assign a Keeper 24/7 to each baby elephant, and he feeds, bathes, takes them for walks and sleeps with them at night, but they rotate them, so they don't get too attached to one Keeper. Their system works well. Thank you to the Keepers of this baby for taking care of him! God bless!

This baby elephant should NEVER be left alone! In the wild they are always, always surrounded by family! Why do you think he’s crying? He needs contact by humans who are his caretakers. At the baby elephant rescue in Kenya the babies are never left alone. There is always a caretaker with them night and day. This little guy could die from loneliness. It’s happened before. These guys need to spend all day and night with this baby and that means not behind bars! The baby needs touch, that comforts him. Watch a herd of elephants. They are constantly touching and caring for the babies of the herd!
