I don't know if this helps, but I buy "deer corn" in deer hunting season and feed it to my hens. I cook it in a crock pot or sometimes a rice cooker first, which makes it break up more easily and give it as a "treat" now and then. It also adds a bit of water to their meal. My ladies love it!.

That sounds delicious!

Oh I do hope you do - chickens are wonderful! I hope that comes through in my videos. Meanwhile maybe some of my other videos can be of interest 😊

Horses that are poor keepers often get beet pulp supplementation in my area. Beet pulp is quite high in phosphorus, so we had to feed alfalfa hay, which is high in calcium, to rebalance the 2:1 ratio of Ca:P that horses need.

That's interesting. When the beetroot in my garden gets too old for us to eat iI give the whole plant to the chickens. They seem to enjoy the roots as well as the leaves. And I laugh because eating beetroot stains their faces pink!
@kida12Күн бұрын
@chickensinmygarden Lol. I think that is different than our beet pulp. It comes from sugar beets!

Great video. I love the information. I am one and half years into this new responsibility. Didn’t really want it but given the turns of the world today. Seems like the responsible thing to do for the family.

A responsibility - I guess that's true, but more than that, a joy!

Just a heads up, I nearly scrolled past this video thinking it was a KZbin ad due to the color pallete of the thumbnail. Not sure if this is a me thing or extends to other people too, but I wanted to make you aware of it.
@chickensinmygardenКүн бұрын
Hmm. Thanks for that. I use this yellowish background for all of my videos and thumbnails. Do they all give that same impression?
@Just_Moon2004Күн бұрын
@@chickensinmygarden Yeah I always thought it was an ad, this time for feed because I’ve been googling chicken feed, for my chickens.

Well, thank you very much! Maybe I'll have to change them all! Have a great day 😊
