Please donate at helptia@upi | Most comfortable road bikes are often neglected because of their old looks are the old simple traditional cycles often known as ghoda cycles. Hercules and Atlas also manufactures these. Cyclist often ignore these cycles for cycling because of their looks and lack of gears. These cycles are not for sprints but considering its straight seating posture and big seat these are very comfortable long distance touring cycles. Created this vlog to show the modifications that I made for going on distant long rides trip.

Certainly. I gave my dad's roadster ( hero jet only ) to service. Changed tyres , rims , a new bell and the right side pedal . The chain , rims and handle bar unchanged . The seat height increased for riding comfort. It is back to do it's duties. I had a short ride on it . The riding experience is different. Hope I need to ride more to understand if any problem still exists or its the natural tendency. Anyways, this video stimulated my interest to do all the above . Will definitely post my long ride experience on that here in my next comments. Cheers , happy riding.

There is nothing better than these Roadster bicycle. I have a 22'inch old school Atlas bicycle with customised 48T chain crankwheel along with 22T freewheel. I enjoy every time with it for my daily ride routine trip effortlessly.

Sir, I am much impressed with your simple explanation and practical experience as well as utility of this roadester classic bicycle. I used to ride my father's Raleigh classic roadster bicycle in my childhood. It was light, smooth ride and trouble free. I enjoyed much of riding the bicycle. But I didn't understand the value of the bicycle at that time. I am about, 65 years old now, fit and healthy. So, fo fitness point of view, I have purchased recently a Raleigh classic roadster bicycle. It is good, smooth, light and fast. But I find not the quality of the Raleigh bicycle in the recently purchased as I used to ride in childhood. That was made in England. Indian manufacturer has taken franchise, so it is not 100℅ as it is made in England or it was available in Indian market about 50 years ago. After all, it is better in terms of quality, weight light, comfort in handling and speed. It costs Rs 8000/- without stand, bell, lock and seatcover. The tyre is super quality of Ralson company.

You need 34t main Chainwheel with 24t freewheel for smooth riding.

@@tia2018Speed is always negligible on bicycle. Aim for comfort first. In a state like Maharashtra, where the roads are always up and down(ghats, flyovers etc), you need low gears.

Dont water for clieaning. Just wipe with dry clothes and for shine wipe with any oil. Keep in shade in rain and if wet wipe immediately 😊

How many teeth the freewheel have? If it is of 18 teeth,the gear ratio is 52/18=2.89 which is too high for normal riding and on rising grades, it is just impossible for cycling, one will have to walk over the grade, say 25° -30°slope. It is difficult to ride through ghat roads. What is your experience?

Please note that our old post man and fauji used to travel daily at least 50to 60km.by this simple cycle only, main advantage of grip of handle i.e. position of hands remain normal

Choose the one u r comfortable with. Normal cycle me bhi light weight aate hai. Long ride pe khud comfortable lagna chahiye. Speed chahiye to gear cycle chahiye. Speed nahi chahiye to normal cycle.

Better to fix 6 speed gear in rear wheel and sealed bearing in both wheel also fixed bottom bracket it will be more smooth than before you can watch vishwas kumar yadav you tube vdo on cycle.

average indian is poor and cycling for indians means pushing it hard. In other countries, rickshaw and cycle have clear difference. Bicycle means - the lighter the better. There they have no rickshaws but at most tri-cycles. We are proud when we convert our cycles to rickshaws. We can't afford a frame which doesn't bend but breaks; we can't afford a frame that is lighter but costlier; we can't imagine a frame is dead without a dozen welding repairs; we can't imagine light can be stronger. We will remain slaves till rupee is falling and finance minister is saying - it's not rupee that's falling but it's dollar that is flying.🤑

The video actually is awe inspiring, especially because of the machine being a single geared and still having a 52-18 ratio with a 25 kg frame.
