So happy I found you! I am in the US but am presently discussing the purchase of a property in a soon to be built large single family community in Punta Cana. I have been sent a contract model, availability model and other information to review. I hear you say people should seek out a lawyer first and that's great advice. Am I correct that the type of development I'm interest in sells only the structure? The land remains with the original buyer? Also, is it common to pay for new development properties in Punta Cana in percentage increments (a downpayment, then scheduled monthly payments, then a final payment)? Further, am I also correct that once I get to the final payment part that for me, I will need to sign documents in Spanish and at that time I should seek a lawyer out to assist me with title, other closing documents? Most common mistake is buying a property in a country of DOP with USD, you are literally buying a property for $150-200k on a country with low stability, no1 in death per automobile crash, zero security for your home, easy target for robbery… my logic is if a country where it’s own population can’t afford proper housing (take yourself through a little trip through Santo Domingo where people live piled up) is not worthy. If you pay that much down there you’re supporting a few rich and corrupted while the rest of that nation is poor, like reeal poor. Dominicans a simple beautiful people, but when basic humane things are scarce is when you see so much wrong going on there, people are really desperate there and even their ex president said their young with degrees can only work as a motoconcho (motorcycle taxi)
