Saddened by his passing. I was unaware until seeing a tribute video to him. I last saw Dr Steve before I moved from Austin in 2016. He was a phenomenal and gifted healer and incredibly benevolent. When I informed him I had become chronically ill and could not work, he immediately and from there on out saw me for “whatever you can afford.” He said to just leave the cash on his front desk as I left. Didn’t matter if it was only 10 or 15. His kindness is not lost on me. Dr Steve was one of a kind: the good kind.

I had seen him before in Austin and trust me he was borderline genius. I realize he looks a little eccentric I. This video l, but the only way I found him different was that he truly TRULY cared for his patients. It wasn’t about money or bleeding insurances, it wasn’t one of this 7 minute every other day hurry in and out, but he would sit and talk to you and really took an interest in getting to know his patients. He was an old skool DC and essentially never promised anything other than to rule out certain joint/nerve issues. While most DCs today are intent and focused on being KZbin stars, he took that time and energy to educate his patients on the science behind it. I remember when I asked what the sound was he drew out these illustrations explaining how gasses were released and used an analogy of the toy guns with the suction cups. He said it was like the pop when you pulled the suction cup off of solid mass. So yeah the only way he was different was in a good way.

Everything I heard about him from trustworthy and credible people echoes the same...God Bless Dr Steve...

@@nspr9721 There are some old videos of him (I believe from the 80s) where he is performing his cranial adjustment with the balloon on a patient (and he details how it works). He’s probably in his early 30’s (if you find the video it’s had to realize it’s him he looks so different). But yeah he was a real chiropractor who truly did care about the well-being of his patients. Almost to the point it became a detriment to him (my understanding his final few years were not kind to him) but when it comes to actually being a real chiropractor, there have been few like him. I also appreciate the fact he never promised anything other than to “rule out” chiropractic issues.

Chiropractic started off as a traditional folk healing practice called "bone setting" practiced world wide. Medical science back then was composed of many schools, like classical Hippocratic origin medical doctors (who did not perform surgeries), surgeons, barbers, bone setters and herbal healers (later on dentists and Asia has it's own unique healiers like accupunturists. etc.) all were around and were considered different medical disciplines.

A passionate eccentric for sure, but he lives for his subject and 'does what he loves' after working his way through a first career as an elec eng. The sincerity oozes out of him. I and others I know (ex-uniformed services) have been treated by chiropractic and it definitely does some sort of good that isn't just a placebo, whether it can be empirically measured or not. I and others felt a significant improvement in gait and running performance and lost the tightness around the spine after getting similar treatments. All respect to Dr Berman.

Wow! I cannot believe all the rumors and innuendos hurled at this good man, may he continue to rest in peace. Dr. Berman would not hurt a fly, my wife and I got a chance to know him well and he was one of the best at his craft. Those allegations about him being arrested for grouping some lady were completely unfounded. He didn't die from suicide, he died as a result of head trauma from a slip as he came out of the shower. He would have survived had someone got to him sooner, but because he lived alone, he suffered in pain and agony and was never able to recover from the coma. I am saddened by his passing but what is more sad is the lies a lot of the people commenting said.
@MeanMustard6504 жыл бұрын

@Glenn Watkins thanks for sharing this. Although bittersweet at the passing of such a good man and passionate, dedicated healer, there's a small gram of comfort in knowing he didn't die by suicide but by a tragic accident in the home. Glad to have the rumours quashed. Sad too that Dr Steve lived alone, but the glowing testament to his decency and character by the heartfelt comments on these pages is the best tribute and tells the world what an amazing and decent man he was. Fly high and enjoy the view Dr. Steve!

I cannot know for sure - and I would never want to denigrate the suffering of anyone who has been mistreated. However I also know several good and honest people and practitioners who have almost lost their lives, their sanity, their careers and their marriages thanks to a 'Karen' type false complainer (including women, and for the record, I know at least one genuine 'Karen' and had her live in my home rent-free for a year while I worked overseas as a contractor). However all the circumstantial evidence suggests there is no case to answer for this eccentric, unusual, possible Aspergic but undoubtedly generous and well meaning man, who did a great deal to help several close friends of mine from the US forces who fell on hard times following their service. Going through Dr. Steve's record with a fine tooth comb, police found only a marginally lapsed licence. Rest peacefully Dr. Steve, hope the view is fantastic up there, you are highly respected and honored by many people down here whose life you impacted with your care and expertise!
@sandyhatfield18016 жыл бұрын
Wow. I watched every second of this. I think we are finally getting it. Adjustment first then Dr if needed. I think through the years of listening to grandparents and parents we just automatically go to Dr. The other reason is money and insurance wont cover, and have to keep going 12 times are the things you hear. But i see a change coming, a few Drs might not have so many patients to write a pill scrip for. We need this change with honest and not greedy chiropractors. I enjoyed this very much.
