In defense to the Cardiff City owner, he didn't just change the team colors to red because "it is his favorite color". It's also because, in his culture, the color red and the dragon symbolize good fortune/prosperous future. That said, horrible choice.

Columbus Crew is another one that could be on here. They changed their badge - which was superior to their current one - and tried to change the name to "Columbus FC". Fans were so angry they didn't change the name.

Leipzig also weren't allowed to use Red Bull in their name either if I'm not mistaken, so to get around it they used rasenbal spieler (sorry if I butchered that) to get around it so they can still use RB and we immediately think of red bull because we see the logo and RB and automatically assume even though it's not red bull.

Wimbledon created a new club but mk dons took all the trophy's and Wimbledon said we won all those trophy's give them back ... All the trophys was returned to merton council who loaned them to Wimbledon in 2007 Wimbledon initially ignored the overtures of Winkelman, who also approached Luton and Charlton Athletic about fulfilling his dream of building a Football League stadium in Milton Keynes.

Actually Cardiff City didn't change colours because that was the owner's favourite but instead because they wanted to reach a global projection, identifying Cardiff City as the First Welsh Football Team. Indeed Red is the colour of the Welsh National Team. Infact they also made the Welsh Dragon very prominent

I think no matter how good a rebrand is, you shouldn't do it, because fans are already in love with the original. 90% of the time when a club gets a new logo or makes a very different kit, it looks better than the original, but still, the fans won't like it because the original represents the history of the club.

It wasn’t because Vincent tans favourite colour was Red… it’s because in asia Blue is considered bad luck whereas red has positive connotations. He thought the red kits would sell a lot easier World wide - in particular the Asian market.
