The most dangerous road in Mexico has it all - half the road off a cliff, crazy drivers that overtake on corners, potholes, bumps, long stretches of gravel and massive trucks and buses that take up both sides of the tiny, narrow "highway".
After 6 months driving all through Mexico, this is by FAR the worst and most dangerous road we've driven!

É uma estrada muito arriscada. A gente ficou na dúvida se vale a pena o esforço, vindo do Brasil e Austrália, pra ver uma praia igual muitas que já vimos. Mas viajar é isso! As vezes o esforço é maior que a recompensa... as vezes a recompensa vale cada minuto! Abraços pessoal!

Acho que aqui no México o grande problema é a falta de lei. No Brasil as estradas são ruins e os motoristas também. No México as estradas são ruins e os motoristas completamente sem noção hauhaua

In that state, Oaxaca, the locals don't allow the government to built rods. Natives in remote areas are very aggressive towards foreigners and tend to destroy buildings and close rods just because. That happens in Chiapas too and some other states.

We drove that same road into Oaxaca for Huatulco; we stopped for a drink and they were using a drag line over our Chevy Suburban to pull logs up the mountainside - unbelievable! We had four teens on board and the better road was being blocked by the "Indians" due to their candidate having lost the election. Huatulco was really nice!!

I think it's a mixture of difficult roads and careless drivers. The road itself was ok.. but the way people don't care about their lives is crazy. Luckily we haven't seen many accidents! Have a great day!
