My son teaches, my daughter in law, my ex husband..his wife...a very dear friend is a teacher. I see how hard they struggle financially but do it for the love of the learning and shaping the minds and futures of the next generations. Teachers shouldn't have to work two jobs to survive. It's hard to see athletes making millions while these teachers make peanuts. It is really tough to understand.

AMEN! I think that congresspeople and senators should have the same salaries as public school teachers.

It is hard to see athletes get paid so much while teachers get paid so little. It's especially frustrating because teacher contracts must get approved by the actual members of the community they teach in and for some reason, those contracts can be hard to get enough votes in many communities. I think there's hope in knowing that athletes get paid by private companies, while teacher salaries in a given district is approved by the voting members of that district, so its something you can rally and organize for and actually make a difference.

And that means getting support from other community members, not just demanding stuff from your elected officials

Shout out to Mrs. Thomas who is an incredible Michigan school educator. I was lucky enough to be her student 4 times. Twice in middle school and twice in High School cause she moved buildings after i left 8th Grade. She was the most understanding and compassionate person because she knew i had autism and was willing to work with me on my learning struggles. I'll always honor her for that

My favorite teacher Mr. Bougie helped me realize I could actually do school. If he were still alive I'd share his hand.

For me, Mrs. Johnson, in Kindergarten (yes I remember her) who got me to first grade realized I could sing. Could I? Well, she made me think I could. Mrs. Dearborn who gave me some test that promoted me a grade ahead, and put me in the toughest class I could imagine, with Mrs. Wallace. It was so hard, but even later I met the teacher of everything good about people, Mr. Donald Dyer - Choir Director, UTHS East Moline, IL. Who took not one, but two chorale groups to Europe to compete over the Christmas & New Years celebrations. At 17 I saw more historic sites than probably almost anyone else in my entire family. The reverberation of our voices, in places like the catacombs, was unreal. Or at the Pantheon. And, even singing under the Pope's balcony at St. Peters Basilica, which led to kiss a girl from a French Choir. Her name was Elizabeth, and the perfumed letters I received for a short time after the trip put me to sleep every night. Mr. Dyer exposed nearly 110 kids or so to the world, had us all crying, and taught us some of the most beautiful music in the world - let alone expose us to many cultures and languages. Sorry to write so long, but the memory is so big. After moving to my daughters I finally found a photo album which holds many of those memories. It makes me cry pretty much every time I think of those times - for happiness of course. Thanks Kelly. Now some one edit that down to 3 sentences please.

When I was in 10th grade my one science teacher was Mrs Butchee. She was such a fun sweet loving woman. She also was my moms teacher but my mom was younger than me because she taught the younger grade then.

Shame that from about 22 years teachers in my country are treated so bad. The childrens and parents didnt respect us, they say that we have to loong hooliday. But do this mother know how many hours i spend with his son free, after school to help him with material chi didnt understand. But there are also bright lights when you get an email from someone who was your studend asking, "In new school we got homework titled "Who inspired me" most of my classess write about stars, famous people, but would you mind if i will wrote about you and print some fo your drawings. From art , character design and cartoonist from Poland.
