Robl's losing hand is strange to me. After the flop he'd be losing if the other player had a single queen. There's a decent chance of that. Yet he kept pushing even after a monster re-raise on the turn. The river giving him quads might make it tempting to go all in, but up until that point his hand was weak with 2 queens already on the table.

And the other guy didn't have the 3rd nuts like they were trying to make it sound. Other full houses beat him as well. He had like 5he 6th or 7th nuts.
@TinyPowerfuIFists8 күн бұрын
@@davidsnobl4659 They were playing the short deck variant where all of the cards 2-5 are removed resulting in a deck of 36 cards instead of the usual 52. Due to there being only 9 cards of each suit, it becomes harder to make a flush and there are statistically more ways to make a full house than a flush with that deck. This makes it so that a flush beats a full house in short deck. Short deck confused me as well the first time I saw it in one of these highlights, especially since they compilation rarely calls it out. The thing that confused me the most with short deck is that the lowest straight possible becomes A6789 due to the lack of 2-5.

The last time I played poker with my dad and his friends some thing like this kind of happened. They play a lot of games with wild cards. And with every hand they put One emptyinto a pot and at the end of the night there’s one last game and winner takes that pot. The last game we decided to play was Follow the Queens. Normal Texas hold ‘em but every queen is wild. Also, whenever a queen is dealt, the next card dealt is wild. That is till the next queen is dealt and then the next card after that becomes wild. And with the flop plus my hand, I ended up with seven sevens! I won the big pot! They never let me play with them again! P.s. 16:10 That is not a Trident! That is some kind of Battle Axe. Just because it has three points at the top does not make it a Trident. 🔱 that’s a trident!

Like chess the issue is most games are nearing a solved status where to win doesn't require you to defeat the opponent but for them to commit errors. Bobby Ficsher left chess because he said it was solved and all the creativity was gone. I think with poker the same is true now that all the players are basically just using internal calculators to calculate odds and betting ranges. At what point is it the same as putting computers at a table to player eachother and giving them a algorithm that commits a random error every once in a while?
