00:30 "Carat weight is used to determine its quality." Weight determines rarity and value, but not quality. 00:50 " 95% of opals are from the Lightning Ridge mine" 95% of opals are from Australia, but not just from the LR mine. There’s a bunch. 01:10 "…puts their value (opals) at $2350 per carat" The best black opals sell for $15,000+ per carat. 11:00 "The most expensive piece of jadeite jewelry was a necklace with a .5mm jade beads, which sold for an unbelievable $9.3 billion" It IS unbelievable because the 27 beads on the most expensive Jade necklace were between 15.4mm and 19.2mm and sold for $27 million. 13:00 "The primary mineral in the most coveted jade is jadeite" Jadeite isn’t a mineral in jade, it IS jade. Any other minerals in the specimen are inclusions. 11:45 "It (jade) now sells for almost $3 million per carat." No jade has ever sold for that. 12:00 "…with the highest quality material demanding well over $200 per carat." You just got done saying it sells for almost $3 MILLION per carat 15 seconds ago, which IS "well over $200 per carat" but come on! Not sure about the rest bc my knowledge is mostly about opals and jade, but I’m skeptical based on the reliability of your claims about the gems I know about. I see you’re just getting started, so no biggie getting some facts wrong at this point. As someone who has the potential to reach millions of people about a subject I love, I wish you well. Maybe double check your info moving forward so people don’t run around repeating some of those terrible claims though?😬 (Edit) Ah. I just got done looking at your other videos. Clearly the facts aren’t something you concern yourself with. Easier to just throw turds on a wall and see what sticks I guess.

By Souren Melikian, International Herald Tribune Nov. 7, 1997 A world record for any jade jewel was set Thursday when a necklace of 27 beads of translucent emerald green jadeite sold at Christie's for 72.62 million Hong Kong dollars ($9.39 million). The price was more than double the $4 million estimate and the $ 4.27 million previous record set in October 1994 in Hong Kong. After the sale, Edmond Chin, Christie's expert in gems said that they had just sold the biggest block of rough jade "ever cut in the world." The expert praised the intensity of green and luminosity of the beads, which vary from 15.09 to 15.8 millimeters in diameter and are impeccably matched in color.

Great valueable information indeed but with some discrepancies..! I am from a third generation gem merchant's family. Although we were known as gems dealers and there is an emerald reference coloring guide which is named after us and it's called " Maricar pachhay " in South India which refers to a particular type of emerald color. My forefathers have donated a largest blue star sapphire to the Smithsonian in the US which is on display today. But to be honest I was not aware of the red diamonds...
@dojo1249 Жыл бұрын
red diamonds are the rarest of diamonds and so very few do exists from the Argyle minds Australia that most people do not know of them either. Hope diamond is the blue and the Moussaieff Red Diamond, a 5.11-carat fancy red diamond. is that what you are asking? hope this helps some.

Well this video is full of tales! The jadite at 10:58 did not sell in 1997 for $9.3B! That is a total lie which now puts all of this video's content in question! The Hutton-Mdivani necklace, a flawless jadeite bead necklace, is valued at $27.4 million when sold at auction in 2014. Terrible research and absolutely false information! I want to see your references, before I believe anything you post! - TJ GIA AJP

2:25 is it musgravite or muscovite? Because the musgravite you said first is really rare, but then you said muscovite. That's mica. If you're saying that there's faceted muscovite out there, we'll just let that be your little secret then.

Uh, "necklace with a 0.5mm jade bead." I don't think so. 0.5 millimeters = 1/2 millimeter. This letter: "o" on most people's screen is about 2 millimeters, go ahead, get a mm ruler and measure it. 0.5mm is so tiny I don't think it could be drilled and strung. The jade bead necklace shown has bead about 18-20 millimeters. Other than the "typo" nice, enjoyable video.
