I know some of this sounds stupid, however, many times these insane requests are made to insure that the promoter takes care of ALL the details in a contract. Promoters are notorious for promising things and not delivering. So insane requests are made for things that don't matter to insure the promoter takes care of all the important things that DO matter. As is mentioned in this piece some things can be declined by the promoter.
