Nice work as always Kev. Yeah the UDR always looks so cool with the way it handles. As nice as those upgrades are, I'm not sure I'd go that route. I put aftermarket shocks on my Slash, and it changed it so much I felt it changed the character of the truck. I'm going to change it back one day. Those kids at Redfin are awesome!

I've had my UDR since 2018. It's been one of the most reliable RC I've ever owned. I've only done "scale" driving and no moonshots. The stock RTR servo, servo, horn, and servo saver are the only failures. This thing does eat servos. I think it need 1/5 scale servos instead of th1 1/10 size servos. I've never broken a trailing arm, a-arm, or tie rod. I have worn the two rear driveshafts however. I've rebuilt the shock two times due to leaks. Now I think the shock bodies are completely worn because the shock no longer have any damping.

I haven't actually tried any other RC cars, but the UDR is so smooth, precise and predictable it does exactly what you want it to. Traxxas really hit the nail on the head with this truck and I'm glad that they heavily prioritized scale realism over everything else. Not every car needs to be a basher, and its the extreme realism of this truck that makes it so popular.

I just wished you would have showed the whole thing! LOL, thought I just had to change the end on the transmission. I love playing with the udr it’s the sickest realistic rc trophy truck ever made!!! The only thing it comes even close to realism is the tamiya bruiser/hilux. Leave it to traxxas to make some of the sickest trucks out there since tamiya..

Yeah, it's because the traxxas UDR is a pretty accurate scale model of a trophy truck. It has a complex suspension system that is designed specifically to soak up bumps jumps and whoops. Unlike most RC's that have a basic double wishbone setup designed for durability and simplicity.

Nice slo-mos, Kev! I just had to decide between the UDR and a Maxx Slash. I went with the MSlash and added taller shocks, sway bars and tune-able top arms in the rear for camber cuz it's so heavy. Kinda what you did with the UDR, but in reverse vis-a-vis scale and basher qualities, What do you think - am I going to get as big am RC-smile as you?

Another "upgrade" that every UDR owner should do is put tape over the rear wheel arches. This stops them from scratching the paint off the body. Best seen at 11:13
