Billy has some great advice. Spike pens and bait covers are a must. I also dye up several baits the night before as well. Bringing extra reels has saved my butt in Co/ pro tournaments before as well.

Great stuff. Billy told it like it was. I fished flw about a year after I got screwed by a boater. He pulled out in the middle of the lake and went to sleep, it was 50 foot deep. I just started fishing and said are you hungover? He said I hate this lake! I said can I run the trolling motor? He said you’ll get disqualified, I said no you’ll get disqualified, take me back to the dock! And he guided at center hill lake! That ended it for me. They wouldn’t give me my money back.

A good thing for co angler if the boater allows is the Bakcrack rod holder really helps with keeping your rods out of the way and organized,

@@BradleyHallmanFishing Once you have had one you'll know why. 150 bucks slips under the lid of the back battery hatch to hold it in place. No tangled rods no hooks in the upholstery. No stepping on rods. It's well worth the money and they are easy to pack in a tackle bag. All the boaters I've use them with love it.

I’m alright with the top level having no co-anglers. I was a Marshall for elite series at pickwick this year and it was a great learning experience. I was able to learn way more just focusing on my angler instead of fishing.

I do have a question though, I've only been looking into doing tournament fishing for the past year or so now, I know I can join state clubs (indiana) but with FLW going away because of the MLF merger what options do I have as a co angler to get into national or even regional opportunities? Would love to just drop everything in life and be on the elite series but I need to start somewhere, thank you.

Bassmaster opens and Toyota series are regional level but there are no national tour co anglers anymore. You can learn a lot as a co angler even in your local bfl’s and Bass Federation though
