Renning in RD is kinda more memorable imo than some other characters in RD. He has the story segment in part 4 where he's returned to sanity by the Galdr of Rebirth. He joins with SS swords, basically being an emergency Alondite user. Elincia's Uncle who was 4th Rider Bertram in Clash! in PoR. I think I might argue that Giffca is less memorable, as most noteworthy things he does are actually done in PoR. But even then, it's mostly the fact that he's kind of the "mystery" option to pick to fight Ashnard. If you picked him, you remember that he's strong. But you get Caineghis at the same time in RD, who has Formshift. Relegating Giffca to some obtuse LTC meta strats. Idk though, Renning was a pretty solid pick

Yeah, Renning does have some level of plot significance, but it's kind of like a Say'ri situation where he is forgettable despite that. I'd argue that Radiant Dawn Gifca, despite being inferior to Caineghis, is still a very strong unit worth deploying in the tower. He comes with one of those Laguz gems that lasts the whole battle.
