As a Tankoholic I love all tanks but for me the list is as follows. Warrior (high APM spec, I love that and I love the traditional sword and board fantasy ever since the legend of zelda - also the sound effects of charge and shield block 🤌) Paladin (high APM spec, I love the fantasy of a holy warrior and captain America shield, especially with divine toll is so much love) DK (I love the complete agency over your own hp bar here, lack of movement makes it not top for me) DH (love the mobility, but I feel it's a simpler spec if you're experienced as a tank - fewer buttons means my high APM preference is not met here) Druid (just feels like a warrior-lite in a lot of ways, just not a big fan of the theme. Now the offhealing is fantastic it might climb up the ranks for me but not had a chance to give it much of a go since last patch die to irl commitments) Monk (Ring of Peace is amazing, but it's sound effects put me off it and I can never play it more than 2-3 weeks before I go off it)

Imho monk & shammy are the most fun healers for very different reasons. Monk because it feels so different from everyone else & is very skill dependant (and it can be played in radically different styles)... if you don't know what you're doing you will be completely useless but if you do you'll be a god. Shammy because its CDs feel incredible to pop every single time. As a shaman you've got multiple "save the whole raid" buttons, so it's a spec that anyone can get into & immediately satisfy that healer fantasy.

My favorite transcendence moment ever was on heroic Sark, where someone placed the knock back wrong and I was about to die from it, but I placed a transcendence mid air, ported to it, and then rolled to gain just enough forward momentum to just barely land back on the edge. Monk is my favorite tank because it gives me so many moments to feel good about doing something.

Hair looking sharp there, my guy! DKs are fun, but they make me nervous because tuning on them tends to yo-yo a lot. They were crazy strong at the end of Legion, and were looking great into the start of BfA, only for a Bone Shield/armor nerf making them so fragile that they never recovered for the rest of the patch. One thing a tank cannot be is squishy.

Paladin is my go-to tank. Not only because of M+, but in raids when the other tank falls and there's a tank-buster coming up before a rez, I can take one normally, immune for second, and take the third normally. Happened last week in Aberrus during a couple of tank-swap bosses. I was the fill-in tank and we cruised through the first 5 bosses with only a couple of wipes. We were hard stuck on The Amalgamation Chamber (hadn't killed anything but Kazzara before for weeks), so I'm hoping I can stay as MT since we progressed so far just by changing tanks out.

brew/bdk still by far my favorites but atm DF brew even if it's pretty much made in paper is the only interesting tank for me they really nailed the dps rotation i actually feel like im thinking about 30 things at the time

I have played on all tanks but most "fun" tank for me is always Bear! I leveled up my Druid during Wrath after seeing the Gunship Battle fight in ICC where those Rocket Packs were sticked on Bear's bums. Tanking a freakin BEAR who also have great fighting animations is lots of fun for me. Most "comfortable" tanking on, however, for me is Pally. Regardless of if they were/are/will be OP or not. I guess it mostly comes down to how great Pally Tanks are for interrupts. I don't have to rely on pug DPS staring at meters and tunneling without pressing interrupt buttons when required.

Not playing wow since I leveled to max in Dragonflight. When I've tanked in lower dungeons or heroic dungeons I always prefered to play protection warrior. It just feels like a tank. It's hard to explain why I love it the most.

Monk is my fav tank class. Sure, it feels like playing a piano with all the buttons to press but if you know how to play the class, it feels so rewarding and satisfying. I would say druid is the most boring but in the current meta, it's the best running m+.

Good discussion! I just started tanking this season mostly as brewmaster. I atake a few passive talents to manage the button bloat. Having a blast so far. Pally is fun it's own way and Avenger's Shoild FTW!

My favorite tanks in order Pally/DK/Monk/DH/Bear/War. Pally is my favorite mainly due to the fact that I feel like I can have such a large impact in M+ with interrupts and externals, as well as it being one of my favorite fantasy archetypes for a tank. DK is fun for all of the reasons people enjoy, having tons of self sustain and death grip is just fun to use. Monk is just fun to play. It has my favorite rotation and just feels good to play. DH is fun because of its mobility, but I do not enjoy its mitigation/defensive CD package. Bear is very spammy and I haven't been a fan of its mitigation style. Bear's big positive is that it has decent utility. Warrior's rotation feels too spammy for me for some reason, and in general doesn't have much utility (has gotten better with DF).

I like prot Warrior because it just feels like a beast. And i really like the presence they have. Like you just know a warrior tank is going to carry everyone through a dungeon without breaking a sweat. They just seem to be one of the most consistent tanks in the game.

If you make all the tanks look the same and sound the same I'd choose paladin because it has so much support/carry potential, but is also quite straightforward in terms of defensives. But I choose bear, because it's a bear and I love how it looks and sounds, and you do have room for some 'extra' like timing your wildfire, sniping low health people with DoC regrowths (thankfully you can realistically take it now), and also more brainspace for shot calling than other tanks. Also it's sometimes satisfying to play the underdog tank (which it often is) and impress pugs that you can actually live and do dam.

I’ve tried Death Knight, Paladin, Monk, Druid and Demon Hunter and I don’t know what it is but I really do find Druid to be the most fun. From level 1-70 I never died once the whole time whilst questing I was pulling entire zones of enemies and coming out of the fights with full HP. I tried the same with pally and dk and just found the pally somewhat complex and didn’t enjoy it the same way and death knight just felt kind of slow to me, I just never had fun with the demon hunter as a tank. That’s only my opinion though.

In a controlled group, love Brew then Prot pally. Full pug Prot Pally 100% can carry a key easy and not relying on a healer who is trying to DPS and doesn't heal u (had this happen on my monk, was painful)

Brewmaster has already lowered GCD because it is an energy user so it feels fast even without gear. That's why haste is not that great. Although it reduces brew cooldowns so haste is not useless.

imo its Blood. i feel immortal and love scaring my healers. i also love when the whole team wipes and i solo tyrannical bosses. havnt been able to pull off those type of clutch saves on any other tank. the skill cap for bdk is what keeps me going back.

@@jamesward7317 go to logs and find me BDK in BH then :) Hint: top parses for tank damage in bracken are guardians with 150-160k+ overall with no aug buffs included. Top 1 parse for BDK is 134k. And thats one single guy with the highest damage done as bdk in bh (logged) in the world…Dont expect your average pug players to do nearly as much as that guy 😂

to me, while comparing tanks, mobility plays a big role, especially because I mostly focus on m+. That said, I still agree that that dk is 1 and dh is 2. after that I would go with prot warrior most likely. Overall really nice portraying of the speccs. I agree on how they feel. Maybe you missed on how spammy some feel compared to others, bec ause thats a reason I had to put my necrolord warrior tank aside in shadowlands.

I had to become a tank in Cataclysm because my guild needed it so I picked DK. Was so much fun and I became a way more better player. Nowadays I usually play Healer or Tank roles. In Dragonflight the Tanks are great!

Love that immortal feeling as a vengeance DH. The mobility and self healing usually frees my healer up to take care of the party from AoE things. Balancing cool downs is so vital tho. Just started on Brew monk and Prot Pally tho and those are a lot of fun. I'm pretty happy with how different tanks feel to allow us to find something that fits us best.

bdk is for me the best tanks ince wotlk. With Legion he got so good. Shadowlands season 3 and 4 are godlike for him and i miss them(still hoping for revert of drw note back to the original and increase there timer for each hearthstrike). Actually full Crit=Mastery > 25% Haste feels so strong and dont get one shottet on certain weeks because of aug anymore. But still 20% more Armour would help so much or like 5% damage reduction.

As a tank main that plays many of the classes, this was very interesting. Much like tier lists, the actual ranking is a bit of a meme, and the discussion about each spec is what makes this a good watch. Also, I think the ranking is likely to be heavily influenced by the kind of content you're tanking. The "how do I survive this" puzzle is much more interesting in world top 50 raiding and title key pushing. If you're more of an AotC / +20 gamer, the offensive and utility pieces of the kit are generally a much bigger focus. I know blood, for example, is much less fun in lower-difficulty content because your damage is lower and the rotation usually feels slower, while many other tanks can blast which can still be fun.

Guardian druid has always been my favorite tank. I really enjoy DK and Prot paladin as well. BM is fun, but often a bit frustrating to play until you are geared. I really don't enjoy Prot warrior or DH. This expansion has been bad for druids. Guardian druid has often suffered from Blizzard's class designer for druid really not understanding tanking. In this expansion, druid has the problem it was the first class tree released, and over time they refined their theorycraft on how to build interesting spec trees, but they never revisited druid in a meaningful way. Guardian's spec tree just feels bad. You are forced to put 5 talents in to berserk as it gate keeps other talents you want. And because you have to take those gatekeeping talents, it restricts your top end talent choice. The recent reorg is an improvement, but it missed the opportunity to be much better. The druid class tree is also unfortunate for guardian. It more or less forces you to take a bunch of moonkin talents, which you can't use in bear form, to get to things you need access to. They really missed an opportunity to harken back to the BC era of cat & bear specs being close. Guardian is currently tuned strong, but its also badly designed. So the tuning is great at the moment, but I wish they'd do a serious rewrite & reorganization of the trees. I've done a good bit of mentoring of young guardian druids. Its easy to play guardian badly, and not realize you are doing so, and feel fragile and low dps. I've been main tanking since BC in raid progression. For the past couple expansions we've been doing Heroic progression, generally in the top 10 for our server in heroic progression. (Our server only has a few Mythic guilds, and since flex size raids were introduced we no longer do any raid that is not flex size.) With that said, I think I've tanked end boss heroic raid content on every tank spec except DH.

I like blood DK but only in M+.. in raid or world content it kinda sucks for mobility or fun. Same for DH.. but not as much in M+. Brewmaster overall is the funniest for every aspect. Also you forgot to mention how easy it is to top a Brewmaster because of crit passiv ! Which is enormous.

I feel like vdh and brew are different from other tanks in a way that makes people less likely to play them. Like if play prot pally switching to prot warr or bdk is way easier than switching to brew. My best friend plays warrior and he easily started playing guardian then paladin, and now dk, but he says is not gonna touch dh or brew with 10 foot pole. And I don’t why is that. Personally I like playing on 5/6 tanks, i just feel like bear has been very boring (until now cause it’s op af. And i like playing op shit)

Guardian, blood, and brew are my favorite tanks. I tend to default to guardian or blood because Brew is handled by my co-tank when I am tanking. My favorite thing about guardian is the weaving. It makes me a bit sad when there aren’t any viable ways to owlstitch/catweave but I would say it’s my “chill” tank choice. I also prefer to tank on guardian over other tanks when I am raid leading. I feel skill floor is higher than other tanks but the ceiling is still pretty high. I also love rocking all my mage tower forms, so there is that benefit too.

Honestly, I rank Druid lower… not because it isn’t fun, I loved it as a tank; I just hate how my gear isn’t present.. I am a returning player and probably everyone else is used to transmog so much that it means nothing to them… and as I write this, I realize that was my only complaint and it feels empty… druids are fun and I recant my complaint. Can we get season 1 warriors (pre nerf) back, please? I'd like to actually enjoy tanking on my warrior, but when I can go on a 15 ilvl lower druid and do better, it just becomes pointless. Warriors will never ever be able to compete with hybrid tank classes, even if they are equals in terms of dmg input/output, because of worse utility. Warriors just have to be tuned up to do better, or get a crap-ton of utility thrown at them. And the latter won't happen. And I am talking M+. Raiding is just standing still and taunting on stacks for 90% of the fights. Any tank will do.

Wow, never thought id so hard core disagree with a Drat hot take. I pretty much only do M+ these days, but my list is so different. Pally and druid are my favs, high level pug keys the utility is the most fun hands down. Just face tanking big pulls gets boring. Next i would say, dk, warrior, and dh. Jumping around is fun, gripping things is fun, ranking of the 3 probably changes depending on the season/iteration. Last is monk. Just dont like it. Pugging as BM is negative fun, stagger is not satisfying, overall boring, no big moments despite its high damage.

Bark skin, 40sed cd, 30% dr, 20% bonus healing, last 14 secs and gives a small shield, and also does some damage. Meanwhile brew’s ONLY defensive fort brew: 20% dr and 20% health on SIX MINUTE CD

Ya, i never understood the "bear has weak moments". Ive mained a bear forever, only time i feel weak is if someone pulls extra while im rotating my cds, and we just came out of a boss or something and i dont have SI. Brew is "high" skill cap, low reward. Same reason i stopped playing feral as an offspec. Its not fun to be the best at a spec, and be low on "meters".

Everyone dunks on guardian for being boring but that’s only really because those people play them when they are OP. A balanced guardian in keys is super fun, managing incarn cooldown and ATWF is very rewarding. The lack of complexity actually makes you have to think more than something like vengeance where you have 47 defensives up all the time and can just face roll them every pack

@@samuelhill6206 you literally just cancel demon spikes with a macro and cast it again and brand an enemy and then can just infinitely cycle demon spikes and fiery brand with the CD reduction talent and tier set respectively
