Hippopotamus comes from Ancient Greek and literally means “horse of the river”, so it makes sense lol

I used to live in Germany for some years. I had small German class in grade school. I never got good at it. But I WAS used to hearing it all day because I lived on the economy. The words in this video Are very familiar. MAKES me feel like I back home 😆

I just found your channel via reddit and I love the way you're teaching! Have you considered adding subtitles in German (at least for the beginners videos)? I started laughing out loud when she said stinktier, I was like WHAT you're kidding, what???? That's how they name animals hahahah, in Spanish we are so overly imaginative and creative it makes no sense. We call a stinktier a zorrino (basically a small fox (?) what until you find out what we call a nashorn...
