The strongest earthquake I’ve experienced was 7.6 in the Philippines. I was able to save a child trying to go down the detaching stairs from the floor the second floor. Then we sat to safety onto a custom-made and sturdy cabinet for some minutes till the shaking calmed down. Praying for protection for all our Taiwanese brothers!

感謝國際人士關心台灣403震災！台灣的基礎建設很紮實，然小傷小損在所難免，目前為止僅花蓮有2棟老舊大樓傾斜半倒。總的來說，一切正常良好，電訊、交通在半天內恢復正常，水電供應也都無礙。目前只有10人遇難，大多是登山健行被落石砸中，有1教師因返回倒塌的樓中營救愛貓，不幸在餘震中蒙難。

I have been in 2 earthquakes, both in the state of Ohio. When I grewup we never had them here. The first one was in the early 80s. Small one. The second one was about 13 yrs ago. It was a 3.4. The house shook and there was a loud boom. They are scary because they cannot be predicted. I hate them.

It's amazing that bridges and buildings can sway like that and not crumble. The building that partially collapsed is pretty scary as the stress on the front edge where it's leaning is probably hundreds of times of it's load capacity. That the rest of it stayed intact after falling and shifting like that, and then during aftershocks is impressive. Condolences to those who lost loved ones and/or their homes.

The buildings there seem to be structurally very strong. Ground liquefaction caused them to tilt, but even so, they stayed in once piece, which I'm sure saved a lot of lives. In most parts of the world this would have been a mass fatality event.

The buildings were like a cracker jacks box horrible, feel for all the people, many lost everything, and surely the number of deaths is much more ..Experienced the Northridge Quake in California 1994 and ever since that day I realized at any time it could all happen suddenly, that was always on my mind when we were there .
