I think the subs we were seeing on screen were not the subs that they were watching since Rice (the girl) mentioned after the episode that "imagine if he masters all six forms" so i'm pretty sure that whatever subs they watched with had six forms written. But a lot of the subs that we got to see in this episode were incorrect. Very weird source. Doesn't matter tho.

It's not a spoiler, it's just a common information for this anime since english subtitle kinda not that much accurate. Like when Inosuke use his sensory, accurate translation was *air detection* but instead in english translation is *spatial awareness* But yeah, feel happy to share information to you guys. @@kipp3384 That’s been very interesting and saw a lot of suggestions why “hashira” was chosen. 1. hashira is often used for people/person as a proper noun especially for who is special & important with strength, responsibility and support. For instance, I have seen the line like “You will become HASHIRA and be the pillars of the Demon Slayer Corps.” from this line, you probably understand a bit what hashira means here. 2. This is just fans suggestion though, "hashira 柱" is one of oldest counter words in Japan when they count the number of God. In this case, pronunciation is “Chuu” not hashira. 1柱、2柱、3柱、and so on. So, maybe they chose hashira instead of pillar because of so many meanings such as a sword master with divine strength that supports the demon slayer corps in particular. Apologies for the long comment! hope it does make sense to you.

@@eukue is it the same with using 'hi' for sun instead of taiyō? I didn't quite understand how 'hi no kami' is translated fire god instead of sun god. I probably wrong, so correct me :D Hi has two meaning, fire and sun. But looking at the context of japanese culture (probably), the word 'hi' must be stand for sun. Also at S1 episode 25, Tanjiro ask Shinobu about 'hi no kokyu' but translated as fire breathing in english translation, while in my language translated as sun breathing. The point is, Tanjiro did know what he ask must be the sun not the fire, because he trained as water breather, he mut've thought about fire breathing at some point.

Seriously speaking, Zenitsu is so damn relatable. If I saw demons in real life I would run away as well and cry for help. Knowing the fact he's not aware of his own abilities when he's asleep, it's understandable when he's acting that way. That's why he thinks the kid he's with on the last last episode saved him from the demon. He owes his master, he's the only one who didn't abandoned him. It's all for his master.

This reactions is probably by FAR your best one - theyre all good but it's really this episode. The buildup the emotion. When we see Zenitsu's backstory and what he went through, we really feel for him and empathize with him. When he talked about not having parents and no one having hopes for him, or dreams, or anything to celebrate, that brought a tear to my eye. And the fight sequence that followed, wow, just wow. All the build up and build up and the emotion and raising the stakes, i mean when he finally goes 'Sixfold' i mean you just feel the emotional payoff. Amazing. Oh and Ron should DEFINITELY get the tat of Zenitsu in front of the moon, its such a SICK pose. Zenitsu also happens to be my favourite, mainly because of the two episodes where he goes nuts. His fights are exhilarating. I feel he represents most people, totally feeling everything Ron's saying about Zenitsu about being the strongest Btw, not sure if anyone said this before (and forgive me if someone already did) but the effects that their moves generate, water from Tanjirou's sword or Lighting from Zenitsu's moves - that's just added in there specifically for the audience. Their moves don't actually generate water, or lightning...etc, the enemies aren't seeing that, and theyre not commenting on that. Like no enemies are saying 'it's water!' or getting wet or anything. What they're doing is using the breathing technique they mentioned earlier to enhance their bodies to become as strong as demons, but there isn't any water or lightning...etc coming out, that's just style and animation mainly for our enjoyment. In this case zenitsu enhanced his body to go extremely fast, which generated a sonic boom, but the electricity we're seeing, isn't actually there

Zenitsu knows how to do Thunder Breathing but he can only do the first form, Thunderclap and Flash. The reason for this is because he did not know how to do the other six. Even so, his mentor Jigoro told him that it was fine and that mastering only one form is enough.

I’ve always really liked the fact that Tanjiro and Inosuke hear Zenitsu’s attack. First, it’s awesome that his attack makes that sound. Like how cool is that you can mistake a swordsman for a natural phenomenon lol. Second, it really let’s you know why they call it thunder breathing and not lightning breathing. Despite it being really fast, high power single target kind of breathing style, they probably named it after the sound it makes when you do it correctly rather than how your forms look (as opposed to water breathing being named after its sweeping and flowing nature). Finally, I always found it really poetic that sound/hearing represents Zenitsu but the people who recognize the sound (that zenitsu made) are Tanjiro and Inosuke who lack superb hearing. I always took this as a metaphor that Zenitsu who is overly critical of himself and refuses to recognize his own worth (even with superb hearing he doesn’t wake up to the sound of his own thunder), is recognized and appreciated by Tanjiro and Inosuke (ok maybe it takes Inosuke a little longer to appreciate him LMFAO) who do not view Zenitsu with the same critical lens he views himself. Idk tho that’s just my jumbled thoughts!

The sad demon backstory thing is not a Tanjiro thing (though it seems he is sensing their sadness). It is my belief that like all humans, some people are good and some are evil, with most a mix of both. Good humans that were turned into demons may have regrets or retain some of their human kindness, whereas bad humans turned demons become more evil. Not every demon that Tanjiro killed had regrets or sadness. The first demon that Tanjiro encountered, the Temple Demon, just wanted to kill Tanjiro. The Swamp Demon only had a fetish about 16 year old girls and had fear of Muzan in death. The Arrow Demon was full of anger and just wanted to use his last remaining life force to take Tanjiro down with him. On the other hand, Nezuko was able to overcome her demon urges and remain a sweet girl, and Lady Tamayo was able to turn against her demon urges, retain a calm demeanor and actually try to help humans. Last episode, the Spider Mom demon gave Tanjiro vital information and asked him to be careful. And I believe that the Tsuzumi Demon actually resisted killing anyone until his father (I think that’s who he was) went too far, trampling on his writings and feelings. And it looks like you got the bad sub version of this episode. As other commenters noted, Thunder Breathing has 6 forms, not 3. I believe the translator may have misheard “mutsu” (6) for “mittsu” (3). In addition, I really don’t like the way they translated some of the dialog. My biggest gripe is the “Sixfold” as it gives the impression that it’s six times the strength, but in actuality, it’s six consecutive or six in a row. He said “rokuren” 六連, which means that… if he meant sixfold, he would have said “rokubai” 6倍. If you notice, Zenitsu zig-zags six times before lopping off his head. You can see the Spider Boy demon trying to track his movements with his eyes, and though they show different angles, if you slow it down and count, Zenitsu flashes back and forth six times. The next episode title can be misleading too… it should be more like “Fake Bonds,” not “Forged Bond.” Though “forged” could mean like a counterfeit, a forgery, it also has the meaning that something is strengthened, so it was a bad choice of wording, imo.

No it's a Tanjiro thing. Tanjiro has a unique ability to understand anyone on a fundamental level (ie on a soul level), not just because of his unique sense of smell. How else do you think Tanjiro can hear his dead mother and siblings from sequence to sequence? Neither Inosuke or Zenitsu have the ability to sympathize with dying demons. It's also why Tanjiro can briefly communicate with the diseased owner of the Sun Breathing form on that fundamental level. I won't say more because of spoilers obviously but, you'll get it.

In addition, Tanjiro is not the only one that can understand beings at a fundamental level. In episode 15 or 16, Zenitsu explained how he could hear (sense) that Tanjiro was a supremely gentle soul. He can even almost hear what people are thinking. He must have sensed that Nezuko, despite being a demon, was not a threat. Inosuke also, can sense deeply with his air vibration senses. When the Mother demon snapped the necks of the Demon Hunters, he sensed the deep fury within Tanjiro, making him quiet down and agreeing with Tanjiro docilely. We are following Tanjiro as the protagonist, so we see the demon’s feelings through his senses. If the protagonist was Zenitsu or Inosuke, who’s to say that we wouldn’t sense sorrow from certain demons that they slay? But so far, the demons that they have slain were quite evil.

Sabito and Makomo may have intentionally shown themselves to Tanjiro to help him, seeing what a hard worker he was and wanting to prevent further tragedy. His family spirits are clinging on to this world to watch over him and Nezuko. You don’t see Tanjiro seeing other ghosts or spirits, do you? In Japanese belief of the dead, which combines elements of Shintoism and Buddhism, the souls of the dead move on to their afterlife, which is reincarnation. However, spirits of those that have regrets or anger may cling on to this world to haunt a location or person. Regular ghosts are called “obake” お化けor “yuurei” 幽霊, and malicious, vengeful ghosts are called “onryo” 怨霊. For those spirits, the only way to help them to move on properly to the afterlife is to clear/solve/take care of whatever that the spirits have a strong connection to. In the case of Sabito and Makomo, after Tanjiro killed the Hands Demon, they may have moved on to the afterlife. You don’t see them make an appearance again, do you? (Or maybe they will… I haven’t read the manga, so I don’t know if they show up again.) Tanjiro’s slain family may be watching over Tanjiro and Nezuko until Tanjiro is able to turn Nezuko back to being human and they are both out of danger.

21:07 The reason why Tanjiro does this, is because Water breathing is the most kind and gentle to kill demons with: In an additional Manga page, the demons Tanjiro kills with Water breathing say: "It felt like being showered by rain" And also, to help with this: The Mother Spider Demon said this too. How I see the Tanjiro Trio: Tanjiro- Leader the Rice that holds the crew together. Zenitstu- The Wasabi cuz he'll shock you and he packs a punch so dont sleep on him. Inosuke- The Salmon he's beefy, the meat, the muscle of the team. Nezuko- The Egg, cuz shes golden, beautiful and the baby asleep in her space. Unlikely and unassuming, as they may be individually and as companions. They cover each others basses and come through. This nightmare will soon come to a climactic conclusion and I for one am here for it. 🙏💯 🦅 ps watch out for Zenitsu's Sparrow Chuntaro something tells me he hasnt given up on him. Inosukes senses,his awareness around him is much more fine tuned than Zenitsu's and Tanjiro. like his spatial awareness(not the ability but his general spatial awareness) is so good that he doesnt have to use his sight or hearing to feel/sense where someone is or if someone is looking at him. It will show later in the series.Its a detail that is kinda mentioned but you notice him using it alot in the mugen train arc.
