Most Important Game for Tennessee Football in 2025? Georgia at Home or Alabama, Florida on Road?

Most Important? Florida is for me. Beat Florida in the Swamp and I’m happy the rest of the season. Yes Bama and Georgia are more prestigious wins. But I hate losing to Florida. Even when Florida is just a 6-6 team.

Florida has gathered a bunch of talent for get back on track. They put the hammer to Kiffin and Rebels. I fear Florida getting the upper hand on us again. I believe Bama have big issues with their transition. Georgia - he will be looking to buy a Championship QB. To me, Florida is the key to whether we stay in playoff hunt or we sink down the pecking order.

@@corbettdaniels I think this has happened at Tennessee. Some got totally lost in the mass but the starting safety and an OL and two back up QB's, I think we're possibly compensated "as if" they were "Scholarship" players. I think the "scholarship" increase numbers will be most impactful in baseball where teams like Tennessee, LSU and others are going to stack talent 3 layers deep. Here is where we will see less challenge from the TTU's and ETSU's to power 5 schools. Their talent will now be hidden in the Dugouts of Florida, Bama & Kentucky.

@@whimsikal1632 but see I don't think it does .. I think the CFP doesn't seem to care about SOS as long as you win your games.. basically, if you go 10-2 from SEC you will get in but if you go 9-3 you won't... That's the vibe I get, but I could be wrong

@ what i'm saying is, this year showed that sos is important and that will definitely be more of a factor (i believe) when it comes to seeding, at the very least. also, playing a game against another conference in a neutral field is a really good test to see where your team stands against teams in another conference that may have a similar record on paper. I agree it's good to have 2 cupcake games where we can run the score up on another team, for morale and practice plays we usually can't call, but having all four OOC games against high school teams don't test your team and make your team seem fraudulent.

@@jh4538792 I agree, we were never going to beat them. And I don't think we can win an NC. I guess my problem is saying "raise the standard", because we are *never* going to be competitive with that Tier 1 level with our NIL budget. We have ~60% of the budget that those top teams do, so we can never compete with them. If we want to be a true contender in football, we're going to have to stop being an "everything" school and withdraw our money from baseball & basketball. But I don't think UT wants to do that, so unfortunately we are probably stuck being ~10-15 each year.

Alabama and definitely will lose it Florida and they'll probably give him a raise. Think he's doing a good job

GA will beat us like they have done every year of Heupel. Heupel, who is supposedvto be an amazing Offensive mind has no answer for Kirby. So, Kirby just does the same thing rvery year, and Heupel is cluless every year, and he does the same uninspired response every year, and so gets the same result of LOSS every year. Not sure if you know this but GA is a great team that has double the talent we do every year. That talent gap is shrinking slightly so games should get closer, but they should have beaten us 5 straight with the players they have.

@ They struggled against U mass dude. Our coaches just suck that’s it. That’s why we don’t win, ND blew them out without a single 5 star on roster. We have 5 five stars and have lost to them 8 straight.

@@20MileRadius they went in as the #2 seed, meaning that the polls thought that they were the #2 team in the country. The biggest reason they lost to ND (another really good team) is because they were playing a backup QB that had yet to start a game. That's your bar for "suck"? You have unrealistic expectations, that's your problem. To you, anything less than championship is "suck"... I see so many Vol fans that have this same delusion. This isn't the 90s anymore, we aren't top dog, and expecting us to be is insane. We are ~15th highest spenders in NIL $, so we are statistically going to finish each year ~15th. That is a 1:1 relationship of Talent to Success, which has been proven out in football using stats. Georgia spends more than us in NIL by a good margin, so they are going to get better players and thus win more games. There are at least 5 teams in the SEC that spend more NIL $ on football (GA, AL, Texas A&M, Texas, Ole Miss) so they *should* finish better than us. That's just how it is now, you need to get used to that. Your expectations are the problem, NOT the team. EDIT: Notre Dame also has a much higher blue chip ratio than us. Even though they don't have 5-stars, they have many more 4-stars than we do. According to 247 composite, their average recruit ranking from 2021-2024 = 274.56. TNs average for that same time period = 249.98. Thats a 24.58 difference, which is a lot. GA's rating during that time period? 310.84
