Great Video! The broken Exacto knife was an omen. Everyone who watches your video should realize there's an issue, that is hopefully being resolved, with Simptap markers; because issues with the same color marker back-t o-back suggests quality control should become involved. Then receiving the wrong Gansai Tambi '"$100no return" pallet... Thankfully they took it back. I admire your tenacity in resolving the simptap marker issue. I would have been done after the first return.💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

Paints that aren't vegan would include those that use honey or ox gall, burned bones, crushed beetles and other insects etc - and certain colors like caput mortem which may contain actual mummy dust (at least they used to). Materials such as these would render the items not vegan-friendly.

I really love the Supergranulating paints. However I found your swatches looked really even. Try using them with more water. They really love water. The same goes for the Roman Szmal mineral Violet.

Oxgall is in a lot of watercolour brands, that’s why they wouldn’t be classed as vegan.

You don’t have to fill out paperwork and pay customs for the most part? Lucky you! We have to pay on everything that comes in, even something that is worth say $3.00 USD, and depending om how much the postal worker wants to steal from you depends on the percentage you pay. Average 30%, but anything up to 50%. Also, you made me giggle when you said you waited for ages for a parcel to come in (you said three weeks). This is no lie, hyperbole or exaggeration - I’ve had to wait as long as a year. The average is three to four months!

@@OzzieOzzieOzzieOyOyOy 😮 holy crap - a year??? I wouldn’t remember what I even ordered after that much time! Yeah, we’re lucky here - no paperwork, no custom fees. I’m also extra lucky to avoid sales tax on my purchases too because I live in one of the few states without a sales tax.

Love the schminke long case and paint. I bought a vintage beaded purse I wanted to build a to go kit in. Was looking for the perfect paint kit to go in.

Did you ever get contacted back? I hate these markers. Honestly they dry out too fast. I had the same issue with the same color. What I did, is shake them the way I shake a pen. I also put hot water in the brush nib. That corrected that. But honestly after making two small drawing in my sketchbook they started to dry out. Only way to get it to work is to shake them and after a few mins they run out again. I was so mad because I really loved the idea and colors.

They did finally contact me, but they only wanted to refund me the cost of the marker. I wanted a replacement marker so I just told them to forget it. Yeah, I would never get these again. The regular Arrtx brush acrylics are my favorite, but they big failed at the Simptap version!

*One Google rabbit hole later* Watercolor typically has additives. One of these Ox gall (found in cow/bull gallbladders), honey, and glycerin, are typically used. So I assume the vegan paints do not use the honey or ox gall

Ox gall is usually added to improve the smoothness/flow of the paint. It seems to be a pretty commonly used additive *BUT* there is also synthetic ox gall that seems to be just as common

I would glue the picture and manufacturer swatches to the top of the box so you know which box you’re choosing.

At the moment I’m just going to keep the tubes in there, but I was playing around with them and they could be good for holding watercolor pans, so I’m sure that’s how I’ll end up using them.

I wasn't impressed with the simptap markers. Most of them didn't "prime" properly ...the nib is half ink and half white and no matter how many times I press it it won't "fill" the nib. The arrtx ones are great. I use them all the time but yeah I've yet to actually use the simptaps on a page because they just annoyed me lol

Yes! I’m glad I’m not the only one. I have seen a couple of creators using them and saying how great the markers are and I was pretty disappointed. I won’t ever get those again. But yes - I love the regular Arrtx markers - they’re the best!
