It’s so strange, I’ve never heard anything about Kazakh music ever and yet it’s some of the most uniquely beautiful sounding music I’ve ever heard… I really need to delve more into it! That Kobyz had my head spinning, that is so incredible sounding, so many amazing instruments that you don’t hear over in the West because it doesn’t fit our “sound” I couldn’t agree more, this song transcended me to a different plane of existence, truly wonderful to react to. Thank you so much for watching, have a great day! ❤️😊

It’ll never fail to amaze that I have people watching me from all over the world… incredible. This song was honestly fantastic, that has been the case with all the Dimash reactions I’ve done though. Idk though, something about the instrumentation in this one and the other worldly way Dimash incorporated his voice into it just elevated it above anything I’ve ever really heard before. Thank you so much for your comment and for taking the time to check out my video. I really appreciate, have a great rest of your weekend! 😊

At the beginning sounds an old Turkic stringed instrument called Kobyz. It is probably the oldest bowed stringed instrument in the world and it spread to became the prototype of all European string instruments as violin an chello. That and the use of the fa minor key in the composition gives the vibe of Middle East /oriental/ exotic sound. Think he´s singing to migrants in general: "New ground far as I can see, new ground underneath my feet, Stranger in a stranger land, new chance to see who I am if I have the strength to begin again"

Wow, thanks so much Ricardo, it was definitely a very unique sounding instrument… you’re right it definitely added that otherworldliness. Ahhh yeah, I didn’t make that connection but it makes perfect sense, I’m sure many people who’re lost and dreaming of a different life can relate to this one. Thanks again for all of the information Ricardo, have a great weekend! 😊

Dimash, Igor Krutoy (Conductor, composer and producer), Yerlan “Erlan” Bekchurin (arranger) and Olzhas Qurmanbeck (Master of playing the Qoobyz or “Kobyz”, which is a two-stringed bipolyphonic instrument of Kazakh origin, very sacred in Kazakhstan): The Magnificent Four! We also have lyrics by Sharon Vaughn (USA) and arrangements by Dimitri Kontopoulos (Greece) and Yerlan Bekchurin (Kazakhstan)!

I really don't understand youtube and what they are doing to you. I thought so long as you cover the video like you do that you would be fine. It's not fair like you say and it's not consistent with other reactors. Im really sorry this is happening to you. I usually enjoy your reactions but I must admit I found this one distracting with all the interpretations, but I do understand why you did it. Thank you for your perseverance in doing these reactions. Take care from a dear in North Wales UK

I don't want to tell you how to shoot your reaction videos. But I think, and this is just my opinion, so few views and likes on a song like Stranger is very unusual. Maybe you should reconsider your copyright breaks. Make the video more transparent. Stripes, dots? I know it's hard not to get blocked on some videos. Do what you have to do, we Dears know the videos by heart. It's not so bad if we can't see everything👍. This is just a well-intentioned suggestion. I don't know what others think about it. Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. The instrument you mentioned is called Kobyz. It's a very old two stringed Kazakh folk instrument and it’s wide spread among Kazakhs. The man who often is playing the kobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. He has come out of retirement to work with Dimash. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. He wrote this song and others especially for Dimash’s wide vocal range. Igor Krutoy is a famous Russian-Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter. He came out of retirement specifically to work with Dimash when he first heard him. True masterpieces were created. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range (no kidding), like Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You'll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It's more of a father-son relationship. Please react to Olimpico (or Ogni Pietra) from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating. This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mpyzhGmqbZmknZY Greetings and love from Germany👋❤️

The cello has never and will never produce that sound. This a Kobyz, a traditional instrument of the Kazakh people. It has only two strings made of horse hair, and the cavity is carved from a single piece of wood and is covered with goat leather. Dimash held that note for 19 seconds, maybe I should have said belted that note. You should check out "Sinful Passion." That note at the end of the song knows no limit.
