just two points that I can think of: - buying new boots because your favourite pro players wear them, although they are paid to wear them and they often wear boots that are different to what you actually can buy and just look like the same thing (Messi, Neymar…) - People expecting high end boots to last longer than low budget boots.

It's never the laces that get in the way of striking for me, it's usually the knot. When I go for a volley and the ball connects with the knot of the laces, I end up with a sloppy unclean strike that misses the goal by a mile.

The high collars from Nike boots actually help prevent all the rubber black bits from getting inside the boots from my experience. It's really useful as I've got so many blisters because of those black bits.

i will say the silicon striking element on the Adipower Preds allowed me to hit dead balls with more consistency because of the friction. From open play, I don't think they make as much of a difference...but years later, I've yet to find another boot that grips and rips a dead ball like those Preds...
