@@TheScandomanYou just don't hit the tip with a hammer. Put some aluminum against the tip and then hit that aluminum with a hammer. Aluminum is softer so it will get damaged instead of the tool but at the same time it will still transfer enough force to drive it in.
@TheScandoman3 ай бұрын
@@dymitrnawrocki9926 Ok, good point; I was a little more concerned about whether it will really stay in there... My car requires a 9 mm Allen-hex tool-tip to remove front brake caliper slide pins. (The carmaker only did this one year, and switched back to 8 mm!...lucky me...and several hundred thousand others!) I was not able to find one without buying a large, expensive set... Seriously! I went through many websites and big stores, and could not find one, as a single! (My money was limited, which was why I had bought a car that I knew needed a lot work, but had a good engine, and pretty good transmission!) SO, I bought a single 3/8 inch Allen-hex tool tip for my ratchet, that only cost like $1.89 (this was 5 years ago!), and filed/ground/sanded ~1/100 inch of each side! For some strange reason, after I used it, the tool piece fell out of its holder! To get it to stay in, I cut a piece out of a disposable/recyclable aluminum pie pan, and formed it snugly around the base, as a 'conformable gap filler'...not perfect, but, I wasn't ready to glue it...or weld it...

Actually they have tool for that. Get smaller set of ratchet set you can use bits and bits attachments. Some of the time when working with lighting or mechanical lugs that are in tight spaces that set is life saver. You can buy them from all companies that sell tools. Trade to another. Or there is another tool pretty cool right buy 90 degree angle attachment for your impact and get them off way easy too. They all can take the torque just matter of buying right tool for the job. But hey those are some neat tricks to if you can’t buy those tools.

IIn Austria we have our own saying just for little tricks like this. In Germany you would certainly say "trick siebzehn" no idea why 17. Maybe someone here can explain or add, I'm not from Germany. In Austria you could say two sayings about it. 1. "der elfer schmäh" that just means something like "ahhh that's the trick for shooting 11 meters" and 2. "einser schmäh" that's a bit more complicated to explain, that just means that it's the first trick of the one, every experience that comes to mind immediately comes to mind, which is why it's "first trick", so to speak. Sorry for the culture shock, I would also describe these techniques as insulting. But for many people this is very useful knowledge, especially for those who don't have experienced colleagues or friends. Merry Christmas by the way, it's December 25th, 2024.
