Most OVERGROWN EDGE I've Ever Seen, Satisfying Lawn Cleanup Transformation

Top Notch Lawn Care

2 жыл бұрын

I knocked on the door to see if I could help with this overgrown lawn. I quickly found out that this young couple were expecting the birth of their 2nd child at any moment. They had a battery powered mower, but this was not going to handle this tall grass. It was a pleasure getting this lawn back into shape for the young couple.

I bought a distressed house in a new town I moved to for a new job. The place was a wreck and I have made it like new. But right after I got there I got hit by an uninsured drunk driver, I was hurt amd out of work for months while I healed, no insurance, no disability in the new state. My parents are dead and I have no family other than the wife and child I still had to feed and the mortgage as well. My lawn was just as bad until I got the used of my legs back enough to mow. Hey, sanctimonious Karen preachers commenting, Yeah there are times lawn maintenance takes a back seat for good reason. And it may be great that you have friends and family, not all of us are that lucky. It's ironic how quick you are to assume about people instead of trying to help your neighbor even if it was their fault. It says a lot about your nature trashing a family when you have no idea....

People taking your choice to help as an opportunity to anonymously judge from afar is insulting to your charity and goodwill. You're the only one who spoke to your neighbor. Their lives are nobody's business but their own and they are not subject to internet judgment by anyone

When my 12 year old son was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 and I was taking my son to chemo and then he had bone marrow transplants (3) and I stayed for a month with him in the hospital on those transplant times. My sister was working full time, taking care of everything and we have an elderly mother and disabled brother. My older son was also helping out but has allergies so bad to different things, he beaks out when dogs touch him, some weeds..etc. Our yard took a back seat from 2016 to 2018. Just got the basic mowing. A lot of ivy, poke weed, and over grown shrubs and trees took over. We actually got a citation for reports from neighbors. A super windstorm had also blown a metal shed across our yard and bent it up. We we're just about to get a dumpster before citation. Fortunately I told the person our situation and he was very helpful with time and we did not have to pay anything. We have spent 2020 since stay at home order times taking down shrubs, trees, etc. We got our front yard where we want it. Back yard is always a work in progress. It's big and that's where all the poke weed is and one of our neighbors does not cut his back yard and my son (who is showing no signs of cancer now) offered to mow it for him for free but he said no, but still has not mowed it. So we have to cut weeds from our fence from his side. But your statement about "Karen's" through this whole process over these last few years, and life, some people will never understand until a situation happens to them then it is a different story then it will be like nothing like it has happen to anyone like it has happen to them. All we can do is keep trying to do our part at least. Sorry you had to go through that nightmare(accident) I hope everything keeps moving onward and upward for you.

This is like me with power washing. Power washed my driveway. Then I asked the neighbors if I could power wash theirs (because it looked REALLY dirty after I power washed mine 😂) Then I did the driveway across the street. Did the curbs. Asked around if anyone else needed something powerwashed 🤣 furniture? doormats? a few neighbors probably talk about me, but you know what? I’d power wash their stuff, too 😭 there’s just something therapeutic about putting on some headphones and watching the dirt wash away 🤣🤣

The man mowing this lawn and fixing the overgrown edging job is a saint sent to this family, no one does know a persons story, so don't assume that they are simply lazy and do not care, there might be a disabled person or someone who is just broken spirit and this will pick up their energy again so that they can handle their lawn. We have all been here, with the pandemic things have gone from good to bad, now lets all help repair each others lives and property like this man helping out by mowing this lawn.

I think this is transformative for the family who lives there. Imagine waking up to a fresh clean lawn instead of an overgrown mess, this family might start their day feeling refreshed and ready to take action rather than being overwhelmed each morning. Little by little, their days will get more and more productive and soon they will see more improvements in their lives.

I don't know why every week I need at least 3 TNLC videos, and this is one of my favorites. Yep, I go in several times a month to see u. It may be your work system, your methodical attention to detail, your way of speaking, your big heart, your effort and enjoyment at work, or all together. My best moments of the week are what I spend watching these videos. I have tried to get hooked on others with the same topic, but not. TNLC is the only one I have subscribed to. Thank you for these moments of relax, of joy, of hope in those with a good heart. Blessings and love for your whole family. Thank God for putting you on earth

Our country really needs these kinds of videos. If someone messed up in the past when laying road, it is in the past and we deal with what is there now. If someone is having trouble, whatever the reasons, that is the condition we deal with now. Thank you for helping that family. Working, watching out for a child and a pregnant mother is a big deal. Would you pick the hours to do the yard over the critical needs of the family? If things get a boost and repair, they have a better chance to carry on and we ALL do better. One problem people can have is moving into a home and having no idea the time or equipment it takes to maintain it. If you watch these types of videos, you can learn where you too can pitch in, teach skills and help out. Brian is a champion at facing down problem areas.

In most jurisdictions, your yard typically includes the grass between the curb and the sidewalk. So your supposed to maintain them via mowing and trimming, and shoveling snow if needed. Although some cities own the curb, they still require you to maintain it as if you own it. I don’t know. Curb maintenance is a legal grey area.

It takes a good person with a golden heart to take on a task like you did. Look at the work you did. You certainly have God in your heart. I understand people are super busy today, but why can't neighbors get together and help, when they see an eye sore in their neighborhood? Six people could give up 1 hour( a total of 6 hrs together) of their time and have done the same as you did. People don't think any farther than the end of their noses today. Well, I am proud of what you did and grateful there are still young people willing to take on these tasks. God Bless You.

I'm with you to a point on this. I remember where I grew up in So. Cal., we had street sweepers come through once a week. This helped to eliminate things like the street side of this property's issues. Of course, you need tax dollars to pay for that service. Up to the citizens to decide whether they want to pay for it or not. Also, pavement should got all the way to the curb.

What no one seems to remember from "Top Notch" himself is he said it was "in his neighborhood"... maybe that means something different from what I was brought up thinking, but usually means within a few blocks of my place... or else it would be in my city or something else... this is not just a week or 2... or even a month or 2... this is at least a year unless that "neighborhood" has chia pets for yards and grow wild without notice... So in short... 3 parties are at fault... The homeowners for not getting yard service (done by them or hired service) ... the city because this is a road hazard and the city should have given homeowners citations for yard... and 3rd... Mr Top Notch himself... he said many times in this video "worst he's seen"... and plus it is his neighborhood and such... So agree or not... this is my opinion... 3 parties are at fault... of which 2 of them (homeowners and Top Notch) worked it out and now city is off the hook since it appears that area doesn't do or have road cleanup services... ie street sweeper/cleaners
@PLS.54
@PLS.54 2 жыл бұрын
@@AE-yz5fm Building and maintaining roads is generally the responsibility of state and local governments, almost 97 percent are under the jurisdiction of state and local governments. Residents often have to bring the problem to the attention of the DOT themselves by submitting a complaint location and concern. With 4.1 million miles of road in the U.S. they can’t always be aware of every situation needing attention.

Great video! That looks like the after effects of an old "curb and gutter" initiative which was followed up with asphalt on the road surface and they thinned out on the edges to save money/increase profit, which breaks up with standing water and freeze-thaw cycles over time. My grandparents small town out in Western Kansas did the same. Again, thanks for getting this growing family squared away with a BIG box getting checked off!

I bought a house that was built in 1906. Corner house, the curb was way overgrown like this. After we cleaned it up we found that the pavers of the street had actually gone around the overgrowth and never had maintained right up to the curb. Whoever owned the house had just mowed the overgrowth!! Underneath it we discovered the original cobbled bricks with a stamp of 1906 on them!!! What a cool find!!!!

The grass on the street had its own eco system. Of all the things you have done for people, this is the top. It doesn't matter the hardship, it's the physical ability to do heavy labor or the money for hired lawn care (who wouldn't do the street anyway). Thank you for taking care of the neighborhood.
