3 Idiots' "balatkar" joke was not just a 5-min joke. The film even ended with that "joke," when Madhawan yells that line in Ladhak to Omi's character. Hirani really felt that was funny and would have massive recall value across India just like "All is well" or "Jaddu ki jhappi." 😂

KKHH didn’t change Bollywood come on - it just continued and amped up things that were already there. Dil Chahta Hai changed Bollywood. What did KKHH change - bollywood fashion? Hum Aapke Hain Kaun also did that, Tere Naam and Dhoom - most hit movies do.

Things changed in ' 95 when DDLJ Rangeela and HAHK became popular and that set the tone for Bollywood after that like DDLJ taught directors to go abroad and shoot HAHK taught that include that sanskar shit and Rangeela changed the clothes that actresses were wearing

I think only Blockbuster movies can be deemed 'overrated'. That leaves out sleeper hits like Haider and Tamasha. All other options are fine.

Long answer incoming, brace yourselves. Abbas' choices seemed on point. Aamir's character in 3 idiots was the centre of attention in a tedious way. I felt that even the some, if not all, of the biggest breakthroughs the characters made are ones they'd grow out of. With Rockstar, it was like 'okay, you wanted a dardnaak story, you got it, you became rebel, your life became dramatic, good for you'. I admit to looking down and being snobby about Rajamouli films. Just vikramarkudu/rowdy Rathore was enough to put me off from the one-tone gong hits that's just force-fed and glorified in the name of masala. About PK, my opinion was similar to Snayhill's before, but I now feel it approaches religion and faith differently just because there is an attempt to grasp it from the perspective of an outsider, an alien no less. The wrong number analogy, even if oversimplified, is appropriate Haider, i watched in the cinema, aged 18, and like Snayhill, couldn't tell what was happening. I've wanted to rewatch it for a little while, will do soon. Hope to enjoy it like he did. Kuch kuch hota hai was a stupid choice, sorry. I don't think its hype is around having portrayed cultural nuances around remarriage or gender politics, which Karan Johar often points out. It nails unrequited love at points, the songs are bangers, and nostalgia - for all its pitfalls - doesn't just have to be a justification tool. It's 3:25 AM, but not blaming time too much for going overboard. I'm guessing I'll stand by these at least for a little while longer

the main problem with 3 idiots I think is that they also shat on its own narrative in the entire movie Rancho says ki ratta mat maaro samajh ke padho lekin Chatur jisne college me sirf rote learning ki woh bhi toh aaj succesful hai I think inko Chatur ko berozgar dikhana chahiye tha aur sirf Raju Rastogi ko successful then woh narrative aur achha hota hai ki dekho jaruri nahi ki college me jo rote learning se top kar raha hai woh tum se jyada successful ho

KKHH - Cannot be termed overrated as it already has a fair share of naysayers currently, fairly rated CURRENTLY. Is just looked back as a blockbuster, and hasn't aged that well. RRR - Is bound to be overrated just because of the sheer number of people who have watched it with a positive preconceived notion(read internationally). Baahubali - Slightly overrated just because of absence of any kind of criticism in media regarding the movie. There's just a vanilla image of the film. YJHD - Was alright. Then came a time it became highly overrated when the teens who watched it at the time grew up a bit, and now the wave is dying down imo. Haider - I'd say correctly rated. The small number of people that have watched it like it for their reasons, and Antariksh rightly pointed out the reasons for the other people not liking it. Animal - Decently rated. Probably equal people raving about and criticizing it. Pathaan and Jawan - Fluff movies, not pretentious. Pathaan is criticized enough, and so is Jawan. Both serve their purpose, Jawan better. PK - Correctly rated I'd say. Rockstar - Overrated. Too much love the movie gets. Bit pretentious to me tbh, pretentious the people liking it and not the movie as much. Tamasha - Still a tussle between underrated and overrated. Gursimran Khamba perfectly summarized "main wahan dekh ke bore ho raha hun ki kya bakwas hai aur mere aage wali seat pe aadmi roye jaa raha hai". 3 Idiots - Correctly rated. Extremely rewatchable.

After watching Maine Pyaar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, both Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra were deeply inspired by the storytelling style of Sooraj Barjatya. Love what you're creating here guys, but a bit of unsolicited advice - you might consider leaning more into the "bros taking about movies" angle. You guys aren't exactly professional film critics, i.e. have a nuanced view of cinema from a analytical perspective - the fact that one of your didn't understand the brilliant storytelling and visual achievement of RRR, and another who thinks Haider is "overrated", goes to show you guys "like what you like" and don't go much deeper than that. Which is your strength. You guys represent majority of the film going public of the world. So perhaps it might be better to approach your show accordingly - instead of saying "Most Overrated Films" a common term used by film critics, say "Films We Didn't Get" or if you want a more click bait-y title go all in and call it "Bakwas Blockbusters" or whatever - right now it feels like you're trying to be casual about your approach to cinema but also want to be seen as cinephiles. Apologies if this comes across a bit harsh but I felt the need point this out only because I see the potential of what you guys are trying to do. 🙏💜

Finally someone who says that 3 Idiots is overrated while one of the critiques that the panelists didn't mention was that there is absolutely no need for the entire love story in the film and feels shoehorned, another thing is one particular element of the results being posted on the notice board is also one which is outdated ( this of course is one im not particularly sure of because it's been quite some time since i was a university student). There's another thing about the speech, let's say the speech was spoken as intended without the changes made, it still wasn't a good speech overall.
