In the video this week I want to show you an effective method for mixing color that painters often forget about. Yes, including me.
I'm pretty sure you have already heard about this technique but are you using it?
I'm talking about glazing.
I think a lot of us use premixed colors. Either from a tube or we make our own color mixtures and use those.
But I find I don't glaze with acrylics very often and I don't know why. This week I realized that I really should use this method more often because it can do something else than premixed colors.
The differences might not be huge but to me it's just what I'm looking for. Especially when using a limited palette. Subtle shifts in color and mood is something I'm constantly working on and trying to incorporate in my landscape paintings.
It can really make your color mixing sophisticated and effective. I hope you'll find the video useful whether you are a realistic or abstract painter.
