Thank you! Btw, ive heard John Danher refer to the move at 18:13 as 'ude gaeshi'. I think in wrestling it's called a 'key lock throw' Except he shows the version of with their fist NOT on the hip. Use with caution in training.

Ude Gaeshi is a wrist lock, the key lock throw is when we do the Yoko Wakare.

That is interesting. I've only seen Ude Gaeshi as a judo throw which attacks the shoulder joint. Like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXSaampjd9x9aKMsi=xHaPs559h_p_M3A2

Weird I actually never knew that’s how Judo approached it.

So brother, I was up and thought I would jump on KZbin for a minute and found your two on one Russian tutorial. Awesome man! I’m 145 pound blue belt that’s probably pretty close to purple, but have no wrestling experience and I’m 45 years old. I’m constantly finding myself in this two on one, but really don’t know what to do with it. Absolutely the best explanation and detail I’ve ever seen, I love the fact that you are not hyperfocus so much on doing it perfect, but when resistance happens overtime, those techniques will get sharper. That is exactly how I teach the white belts at our gym. Great video & new sub right here. Where are y’all located?

Very applicable to Law Enforcement. At out police academy the “Russian tie” (sans head contact) is taught as the basic “escort position” for compliant detainees and the “Kenny grip” as you call it is used if they begin to resist during escort. It’s quite effective I’ve used it repeatedly myself. Love all the options presented here 👍

Thanks!! AND yes - I worked security at the hottest club in Hartford, CT for 9 years, and the Russian was one of my favorite escort controls. I truly think the Russian Tie is absolutely one of the best controls for all combat.

Great vid, as usual. You're always putting out gold. Are you really doing some Wing Chun next? It reminds me of Aikido because it gets a lot of hate (maybe deserved) but the applications are there if you are willing to play with it and modify things as necessary. Greg Nelson has some great Wing Chun stuff.

Thanks, I appreciate that!! It's funny, Leon is actually a Wing Chun instructor, and we've talked about some integration. I am a huge fan of Greg Nelson too... he's truly one of the most diverse martial artists I've seen.

Great video. I bounced for about 10 years. We used to use the Russian tie and variations of it to escort people out.
