I love asian pears. I planted two trees this spring- Chojuro and Olympic. I am in zone 6a in north central PA. I can't wait for them to bear fruit

Do you grow cherries?
@UncleClaysOrchardАй бұрын
I have 6 cherry trees they are young but i did get some fruit on them this years. The pie cherris also called sour cherries are so much easier to grow then the sweet cherries

What is the ranking in terms of fire blight resistance? It’s been the bane of my European pears

My European pear got fire blight
@UncleClaysOrchardАй бұрын
my european pears also all got fire blight … i don’t know yet from personal experience non of the 4 have gotten any yet
@peter320vnАй бұрын
They are pretty fire blight resistance compare to to European one. I have 7 and different Asian variety. Some are over 10 years and no problem with fire blight. Oddly I also have 2 European ones growing next to them with fire blight problem.
@UncleClaysOrchardАй бұрын
@peter320vn Glad to hear they are still fire blight resistant after 10 years!

I have the Stark Giant Asian. Korean origins. So thinking it's like the Korean Giant... could that be similar to your Olympic? This year is first time it's got fruit-1. Not ripe yet. Thinking of grafting another variety onto it for pollination. I read shinseiki is early ripening and giant Korean mid. Think they will work together? Anyone?
@UncleClaysOrchardАй бұрын
we obviously want over lap when they are flowering in the spring time and they will overlap alittle. Shinseiki flowers first out of my four.
