This is the biggest reason why the NBA just isn't as good as it once was. The players are to blame for a portion of this flopping epidemic, but the majority of the blame falls onto the league/commissioner. Once the refs were mandated to crack down on almost all contact and players were getting foul calls just for standing within 7 feet of another player, it got to a point where players would get called for something that wasnt a foul, so a few minutes later they would flop as an attempt to even out the fouls....and it worked 99% of the time. Eventually that changed to players flopping for no legit reason (just to steal pts/possession). And here we are now. Players still flopping like womens soccer players. In the 80's, players would battle for position. And if they got shoved out of the way, they'd battle back to get the position they want. But now instead of these massive, super fit players pushing thru any type of physical play, they just immediately crumble to the floor and roll around in fake agony. Its really embarrassing, but this nonsense is the fault of NBA execs.
