If you like romantic type of piano concertos I would recommend you Moskovsky’s piano concerto no.1, Bortievickz piano concerto 1 and 3, Medtner’s 1st and 3rd piano concerto’s and piano concertos from Arensky, Henslet, and other less known but yet magnificent romantic composers.

Yes and Eric Carmen had to share royalties with the Rachmaninov Estate for that beautiful piece as well as another one, Never Gonna Fall in Love from Rachmaninov’s Symphony #2. He thought the copyrights expired by the time he wrote both pieces. It did, in the US but not the UK. They worked it out eventually with the Estate getting 12%. If you are going to produce beautiful love ballads, being inspired by Sergei Rachmaninov is a pretty good place to start. Sadly Eric passed away recently.

Imagine you're sitting, talking, and laughing with someone. For some reason talking to this person feels different than talking to everyone else. You can talk for hours about anything and it feels like no time has passed at all. You feel safe around this person. You feel at home. You look at them, and then, for a very brief moment, you realize that you have fallen in love. That is how I would describe this part of the piece.

A while ago I started learning this piece to eventually play to my girlfriend on valentine’s day because she loved to hear me play. I injured my finger but had a splint just so i could try to keep it up and learn the piece before. I spent about 1 month getting it down and perfecting it but when It was just about time to play it for her in person. She left me and broke up and that was the breaking point of my love for piano I didn’t want to touch or even play that piece anymore. It was left to rot and ever since i’ve stopped playing piano but I’ve been healing and i’m fully healed now but it hurts to think about this song but it is such a beautiful song props to Rachmaninoff. If anyone is reading this i hope you have a wonderful morning, or night and don’t take anything for granted. I wish the best for all.

I encourage everyone to listen to this entire concerto to really appreciate this one passage since there are so many other passages of pure beauty in this piece, especially all of Rachmaninoff’s other concertos. His harmonies are truly unique. The creator mentions sublime and I have a really good recommendation for anyone who wants to hear a truly sublime piece that brings me to tears everytime and isn’t as popular as Rach 2; Liszt’s Bénédiction de Dieu dans la solitude. It’s an absolutely breathtaking piece of music.
@TheGioz94 Жыл бұрын
I never thought it was romantic, but definitely the second movement of Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2 is a sublime piece of music, with the flaute introducing the theme, a majestic use of strings and the piano entering and developing the story. And wow, the main theme of the Adagio is something special: so delicate and giving an intense feeling of sweet sadness, which is what characterize life itself for many: a tragedy lived with joy. This concerto was composed by Rachmaninov as the first pice after a long period of lack of creativity in which he had depression. The Adagio clearly reflects his pain during this period, but you can sense that it is a pain he was able to process and turn into one of the best classical music compositions of all time.
