Why do some nihang sect eat meat, drink bhaang and called it prasaad ? I hope Basic of Sikhi would answer this question, perhaps by making a video of it. This is not a trick question. Thank you in advance.

They follow a Puratan Maryada, balancing both their spiritual and physical needs by eating meat. Many ithasics granths talk about Guru Gobind Singh Ji encouraging hunting and meat eating, such as Suraj Prakash. The meat must not be Halal and has to be Jhakta (can be hunted too). We know meat has a strong nutritional profile, specifically in terms of bioavailable proteins and vitamins. There is no contradiction for meat eating with Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Those who use Aad Granth as a granth to prescribe rules for living haven’t understood the context or deeper meanings behind those pangtis.

You don’t have to be a nihang to eat meat. You just need to know to hunt or the skill of jhatka. It’s a misconception Sikhs can’t eat meat, and sometimes people/parchaariks will prescribe a veg diet without going over the nuances. This in turn stops the youth from practicing with their shastar and their health not being optimized.

In my honest opinion, this is one of the biggest obstacles for our beloved Sikhi to move forward, a lot of Sikh people are still glued to the old way of thinking, still stuck in the old context or lifestyles. I`m not talking about changing Guru`s teaching at all.

@@GurpreetZoria ARE YOU KIDDING? In this era, animals are injected with hormone, steroids, and all kind of poison. In fact, eating it will make those who eats it, sick in the long run. You want to eat meat, drink marijuana potion or live like a nihang, go head, knock yourself out but don`t call it a misconception that Sikhs can`t eat meat. I know that Sikhs are allowed to eat meat if there is a war or famine going on. Are we still living in those era? Or it is just our mind still stuck in the old context refusing to move forward, justifying our wrong actions and pretending that we are following our beloved Guru`s instructions.
