I hope this hymn “It is Well With My Soul” is a blessing to you! Calvin and I dedicated and recorded this song for our dear friend and fellow musician Beth Nickel who recently passed away quite suddenly. When she found out she was sick her husband said she was at peace and said, “What will be will be”, a similar statement that the composer of this hymn stated in this hymn when he sailed to the place where his girls perished in a ship wreck... “It is Well”.
What a blessing it is to know that through life’s greatest tragedies we have the hope and assurance to one day be in the presence of God for eternity.

ooh how the music touches my heart!!! i remember my mother who passed away just recently on 28 of January 2023. this song gave me assurance that my mother is in a safe place because when i prayed and searched for assurance from God, most of the time this song comes up many times. so i am glad that it is well with her soul. thank you Lord

Thank you for this beautiful music, which really did touch my soul. It was played from the heart and it brought tears to my eyes. Many years ago my mother got me out of bed one night while my siblings slept. She quietly said, "You must come and listen to this. There's a man on TV who makes the violin cry." She was Magyar and music was culturally (and I believe genetically) a part of her soul. She was so moved by the violinist that she had to share it with somebody, and I was the chosen one. I was only 7 years old, but I have never forgotten that special night. I have loved the violin ever since. We were too poor to afford musical instruments or lessons, but my mother gave me the gift of music in my heart. Today you and your friend made the "violin cry". Thank you for such a beautiful and inspirational testimony at the end. It means so much ❤❤

In the end, isn't that is what matters. Death is Always a tearing of the soul, the word of God says death is the final enemy. Knowing and accepting Christ as our Saviour does so much to ease the pain of losing a loved one. The certainty of knowing we would one day see them again, whole and alive, is something to look forward to.

This is the most beautiful and sincere instrumental rendition of this hymn I have heard. The passion for Beth in this tribute is more than evident. This has always been a favourite piece of mine. I heard it when it first came out and dozens of times since. Couldn't help but notice that Beth died 2 days from my wife's date of death and this video was posted one day from my birthday. Now another family death brings me back once again. Am also sharing it with someone who lost a loved one. I totally agree, bring back the hymns !!!

Rosemary, I just wanted you to know how much of a blessing you are to me and my wife. "It Is Well" has always been a favorite, but it was especially beautiful with two violins. But last Sunday it was especially needed in our lives and our church. The last four months have been difficult. We have a small church in a rural area of Nevada. Our families have been going through difficult times. Seven deaths, (four in one family) in the last four months. This last Sunday we found out another family member has an inoperable brain tumor. And then last week my wife had a stroke, and had to be flown to Salt Lake City. So when last Sunday came, there was a need for comfort from the pulpit. God's Word did its work, but I also mentioned you and the song you played that morning. That illustration added to the comfort. Thank you for that selection. When I mentioned you during the sermon, I hope it's ok that I called you a friend. I know we haven't met, and may not this side of heaven, but it feels like you are a friend. By the way, Shirley is ok. When we got home from the hospital, she had to sit down at the piano and make sure she could stilI play. She can though her left hand was a little weaker. I was sorry to hear about Beth. I will be praying for you and her family. What a blessing that she knows the Lord and is with her Savior now. Wow, my day has improved!.... I have discovered YOU..I love your voice (I am glad you don`t sing with a vibrato!) . I am sorry to hear of your loss but I have learnt over time, when God takes something/someone away what is left behind becomes better...or discipline accepted becomes blessing! Hymns have a wonderful calming effect !! 2009 I was riding a bicycle and was attacked by 2 chaps wielding steel bars...They broke 5 vertebrae -2 in my neck, the rest in the thoracic area,...both arms and hands ...In hospital I stopped breathing a couple of times , I am not going to say too much about this except that when I finally regained consciousness I asked my wife "who stopped the music?" That day I went to be with Jesus....but I wasn`t ready, he sent me back to sort out a few things and get right! Over the next few months I had to exist with the most incredible pain, unable to move, in plaster from neck to waist. The only thing that helped me to cope was listening to hymns! Hymns are a better analgesic than morphine....or at least when the morphine didn`t touch the pain, hymns made it bearable!! The hymns we sing now we will be singing in Eternity! There is not much that we take from this life into Eternity but hymns we can! I could tell you more about heaven but I won`t because I don`t know enough words to describe it! Even though I was married to the most beautiful woman in the world, have 5 lovely children & 18 grandchildren who all love me & I them, waking up in hospital after spending time in Heaven was the most disappointing and saddest moment of my life!
