A quick and 'simple' tool to measure voltage drop across a component. Nice. With a 19/20V power supply (common for older laptops), the 1K resistor provides 19/20mA current limit to reduce chance of damage to component under test. Handy for measuring voltage of diodes (high voltage, zener, LED, etc). Depending on battery voltage monitor's resolution, testing Vf for small diodes (less 1V) might be tricky to discern between short circuit and good diode.

@@ECircuits by mistake I purchased volt meter similar look front and back. There is a point for 3rd yellow wire. I think it's the same. Can I use it. Can I supply with 12v dc instead of laptop charger.

I have a question. When we short both the terminals, does it short the power and because of laptop smps it doesn't matter. I used 12vdc power to test.
