The average value of the top 30 soccer teams in the world is $2.17 billion. Twenty clubs were appraised a year ago, with an average worth of $2.53 billion. The average worth of the top 20 teams this year is $2.89 billion, which is 14% more than last year.
Revenue climbed by just 2.5% to an average of $496 million per team; instead, purchasers are paying larger enterprise multiples (enterprise value divided by revenue) for teams, which is driving the increase in values. The 20 most valued teams this year have an average enterprise multiple of 5.9, up from 4.8 last year.
